절	새한글성경 (2024)	King James Version
1	우상에게 바쳤던 제물에 대하여 우상에게 바쳤던 제물에 대하여 말합니다. “우리 모두에게 지식이 있다.”라는 것을 우리가 알고 있습니다. 그러나 지식은 거들먹거리게 만들고, 사랑은 사람들을 바르게 세워 줍니다.	Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2	어떤 사람이 뭔가를 알았다고 생각하면, 아직도 그는 알아야 하는 대로 알지 못하는 것입니다.	And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3	어떤 사람이 하나님을 사랑하면, 이 사람을 하나님이 알아주십니다.	But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
4	그러므로 우상에게 바쳤던 제물을 먹는 것에 대하여 말할 때, 우리는 알고 있습니다. “세상에 우상은 아예 없다.”라는 것과 “하나님 한 분 말고는 신이 아예 없다.”라는 것을요.	As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5	하늘에나 땅에나 신이라 일컬어지는 이들이 있습니다. 이른바 ‘신’도 많고 ‘주’도 많이 있지요.	For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6	그러나 우리에게 신은 하나님 한 분, 곧 아버지가 계실 뿐입니다. 그분에게서 모든 것이 나옵니다. 우리 자신들이 존재하는 것도 그분을 위해서입니다. 또한 주도 예수 그리스도 한 분뿐입니다. 그분을 통해서 모든 것이 나옵니다. 우리 자신들이 존재하는 것도 그분을 통해서입니다.	But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7	그러나 모든 사람 안에 그 지식이 있지는 않습니다. 어떤 사람들은 아직까지도 우상을 섬기던 습관에 젖어 있어서 자기들이 먹는 고기를, 우상에게 바쳐진 제물을 먹듯이 먹습니다. 그리하여 그들의 양심이 약하므로 더럽혀집니다.	Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8	그러나 음식은 우리를 하나님 곁에 세우지 못할 것입니다. 우리가 먹지 않는다고 해서 모자라게 되는 것도 아니고, 먹는다고 해서 넘쳐 나게 되는 것도 아닙니다.	But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
9	그렇지만 조심하세요! 여러분의 이 권한이 약한 사람들에게 장애물이 되지 않도록 말입니다.	But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
10	지식이 있는 그대가 우상 신전에서 자리 잡고 앉아 먹는 것을 어떤 사람이 본다고 합시다. 그러면 약한 그 사람의 양심이 힘을 얻어 그가 우상에게 바쳤던 제물을 먹게 되지 않겠습니까?	For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
11	그러면 그 약한 사람이 그대의 지식 때문에 망하게 되는 겁니다. 그는 형제입니다. 그를 위해 그리스도께서 죽으셨습니다.	And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12	이렇게 해서 여러분은 형제자매들한테 죄를 짓고 그들의 약한 양심에 상처를 줍니다. 이리하여 여러분은 그리스도께 죄를 짓는 것입니다.	But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13	바로 이런 까닭에, 음식이 내 형제자매를 걸려 넘어지게 하는 것이라면, 고기를 아예 영원히 먹지 않겠습니다! 내가 나의 형제자매를 걸려 넘어지게 하는 일이 없도록 말입니다.	Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
