1	우상을 섬기는 사람이 되지 마라 나는 여러분이 모르기를 바라지 않습니다, 형제자매 여러분! 우리 조상들이 모두 구름 아래 있었으며 모두들 바다를 가로질러 건너갔다는 것을요.	Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2	그들은 모두 구름 속에서 또 바다 가운데서 세례를 받아 모세와 연합했습니다.	And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3	그들은 모두 똑같은, 영적인 음식을 먹었습니다.	And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4	모두가 똑같은, 영적인 음료를 마셨습니다. 그들은 자기들을 따라오는, 영적인 바위에서 솟아나는 물을 마셨던 것이지요. 그 바위는 그리스도이셨습니다.	And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5	그러나 그들 대부분을 하나님이 좋아하지 않으셨습니다. 그들이 죽어 광야에 여기저기 널브러졌잖아요.	But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6	이런 것들은 우리를 위한 본보기가 되었습니다. 우리가 악한 일을 열망하는 사람이 되지 않도록 하기 위한 것이었습니다. 저 사람들이 악한 일을 열망했던 것과는 달리 말입니다.	Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7	여러분은 우상을 섬기는 사람이 되지 마세요. 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들이 그랬던 것과는 달리 말입니다. 그들은 성경에 이렇게 적혀 있는 대로 했습니다. “백성이 앉아서 먹고 마시기도 하고, 일어나서 놀기도 하였다.”	Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8	우리는 음란한 짓을 하지 맙시다. 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들이 음란한 짓을 했던 것과는 달리 말입니다. 그들은 한날에 23,000명이나 쓰러져 죽었지요.	Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9	그리스도를 함부로 떠보지 맙시다. 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들이 떠보았던 것과는 달리 말입니다. 그들은 뱀들한테 물려 죽었습니다.	Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10	여러분은 투덜대지 마세요. 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들이 투덜댔던 것과는 달리 말입니다. 그들은 파멸시키는 이한테 멸망했습니다.	Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11	이런 일들이 저 사람들에게 일어난 것은 본보기가 되도록 하려는 것입니다. 이것들이 성경에 기록된 것은 세대 끝에 다다른 우리를 가르치려는 것입니다.	Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12	그러므로 서 있다고 생각하는 사람은 넘어지지 않도록 조심해야 합니다.	Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13	사람이 보통 겪는 유혹 말고는 유혹이 여러분을 덮치지 않았습니다. 하나님은 신실하신 분이십니다. 하나님은 여러분이 힘에 벅차는 유혹을 받는 것을 허락하지 않으실 겁니다. 오히려 여러분이 유혹받을 때에 빠져나갈 길을 내셔서 여러분이 견뎌 낼 수 있게 해 주실 겁니다.	There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14	주님의 식탁과 귀신의 식탁 둘 다에 참여할 수는 없다 이런 까닭에, 나의 사랑하는 여러분, 우상 섬기는 일을 멀리하세요!	Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
15	나는 분별 있는 사람들에게 하듯이 말합니다. 여러분 스스로 내가 하는 말을 판단하세요.	I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
16	우리가 그것을 두고 감사 기도를 드리는 그 축복의 잔은 그리스도의 피에 참여함이 아닙니까? 우리가 떼는 빵은 그리스도의 몸에 참여함이 아닙니까?	The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17	빵이 하나이기 때문에, 우리는 여럿이라도 한 몸입니다. 우리 모두가 하나의 빵을 함께 나눠 먹으니까요.	For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
18	이스라엘 사람들을 보십시오. 희생제물을 먹는 사람들은 제단에 참여하는 사람들이잖습니까?	Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
19	그러면 내가 무엇을 말하는 겁니까? 우상에게 바쳤던 제물이 뭐라도 된다는 겁니까? 또는 우상이 뭐라도 된다는 겁니까?	What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
20	그렇지 않습니다! 그들이 바치는 제물은 귀신들에게 바치는 것이지 하나님께 바치는 것이 아닙니다. 그러나 나는 여러분이 귀신들과 사귐을 가지는 사람이 되기를 바라지 않습니다.	But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
21	여러분이 주님의 잔과 귀신의 잔을 둘 다 마실 수는 없습니다. 여러분이 주님의 식탁과 귀신의 식탁 둘 다에 참여할 수는 없습니다.	Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
22	또는 우리가 주님을 질투 나시게 해야 하겠습니까? 우리가 주님보다 더 힘이 센 것은 아니잖아요?	Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
23	무엇을 하든지 다 하나님의 영광을 위해서 하라 “모든 것이 허용되어 있다.”라고들 하지만 모든 것이 이로운 것은 아닙니다. “모든 것이 허용되어 있다.”라고들 하지만 모든 것이 사람들을 바르게 세워 주는 것은 아닙니다.	All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24	누구라도 자기에게 이로운 일을 도모하지 말고, 다른 사람에게 이로운 일을 도모하시기 바랍니다.	Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.
25	고기 시장에서 팔리는 것은 무엇이든 다 드세요. 양심을 위한답시고 캐물어 보는 일은 아예 하지 마세요.	Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26	주님에게 속하는 것이니까요, 땅과 거기에 가득한 것들이!	For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.
27	믿지 않는 사람 가운데 어떤 사람이 여러분을 초대해서 여러분이 가고자 한다고 합시다. 그러면 여러분 앞에 차려진 것은 무엇이든 다 드세요. 양심을 위한답시고 캐물어 보는 일은 아예 하지 마세요.	If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
28	누군가 여러분에게 “이것은 신전에서 바쳐져 도살된 것입니다!” 하고 말해 준다면 드시지 마세요. 알려 준 바로 그 사람과 그 양심을 위해서요.	But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:
29	내가 말하는 양심은 자기의 것이 아니라 다른 사람의 것입니다. 사실 무슨 이유로 내 자유가 다른 사람의 양심에 비추어 판단받아야 합니까?	Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?
30	나 자신이 감사하면서 먹는다면, 내가 감사드리는 것에 대해서 왜 욕을 먹어야 합니까?	For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31	그러므로 먹든지 마시든지 무엇을 하든지 다 하나님의 영광을 위해서 하십시오!	Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32	여러분은 유대아 사람들에게도 그리스 사람들에게도 하나님의 교회에도 장애물이 되지 않도록 하십시오.	Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33	나 자신도 모든 일에 있어서 모든 사람의 마음에 들게 하려고 애쓰고 있듯이 말입니다. 나는 나 자신에게 이로운 것을 도모하지 않고, 많은 사람에게 이로운 것을 도모합니다. 그것은 그들이 구원받도록 하기 위해서입니다.	Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
