1 이 일로 인하여 내 심장도 떨리고 제 자리에서 벗어났느니라. At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.
2 그분의 요란한 음성 곧 그분의 입에서 나오는 소리를 주의 깊게 들으라. Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.
3 그분께서 그 소리를 온 하늘 아래에 이르게 하시며 자신의 번개를 땅 끝까지 이르게 하시느니라. He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.
4 번개가 있은 뒤에 한 음성이 우렁차게 울리나니 곧 그분께서 자신의 뛰어난 음성으로 천둥소리를 내시는 것이라. 그분의 음성이 들릴 때에 그분께서 그것들을 멈추게 하지 아니하시리라. After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.
5 하나님께서는 자신의 음성으로 놀랍게 천둥소리를 내시며 또 우리가 이해할 수 없는 큰일들을 행하시나니 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.
6 그분께서 눈에게 이르시기를, 너는 땅 위에 있으라, 하시며 자신의 힘에서 나오는 적은 비와 큰 비에게도 그와 같이 하시느니라. For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.
7 그분께서는 모든 사람의 손을 봉하사 모든 사람이 자신의 일을 알게 하시느니라. He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.
8 그때에 짐승들은 굴에 들어가 자기 처소에 머물며 Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.
9 남쪽에서는 회오리바람이 오고 북쪽에서는 추위가 오며 Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.
10 하나님의 숨에 의해 서리가 내리고 물들의 너비가 줄어드느니라. By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.
11 또한 그분께서 물을 뿌리심으로 빽빽한 구름을 지치게 하시고 자신의 밝은 구름을 흩으시는도다. Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:
12 구름이 그분의 계획대로 두루 돌아다니나니 이것은 그분께서 땅에서 세상의 표면 위에 떠 있는 구름들에게 명령하시는 것을 그것들이 다 행하게 하려 함이라. And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.
13 혹은 바로잡는 일을 위하여 혹은 자신의 땅을 위하여 혹은 긍휼을 베풀기 위하여 그분께서 그것을 오게 하시느니라. He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.
14 오 욥이여, 이것에 귀를 기울이고 가만히 서서 하나님의 놀라운 일들을 깊이 생각하라. Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
15 하나님께서 언제 그것들을 배치하시고 자신의 구름의 빛이 빛을 발하게 하셨는지 그대가 아느냐? Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?
16 구름이 균형을 잡는 것과 지식에서 완전하신 그분의 놀라운 일들을 그대가 아느냐? Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?
17 그분께서 남풍으로 땅을 고요하게 하실 때에 그대의 옷이 어떻게 따뜻하게 되느냐? How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?
18 그대가 그분과 더불어 단단하고 부어 만든 거울과 같은 하늘을 펼쳤느냐? Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?
19 우리가 그분께 말씀드릴 것을 우리에게 가르치라. 이치가 어두워서 우리가 우리 말을 질서 있게 할 수 없느니라. Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.
20 내가 말하는 것을 그분께 고할 수 있겠느냐? 만일 사람이 말을 할진대 반드시 삼켜지리라. Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.
21 이제 사람들은 구름들 속에 있는 밝은 빛을 보지 못할지라도 바람이 지나가면서 그것들을 깨끗하게 씻느니라. And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.
22 좋은 날씨가 북쪽에서 나오나니 하나님께는 두려운 위엄이 있느니라. Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.
23 전능자로 말하건대 우리가 그분을 찾아낼 수 없나니 그분께서는 권능과 판단의 공의와 풍성한 정의에서 뛰어나시므로 사람을 괴롭게 하지 아니하시리로다. Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.
24 그러므로 사람들이 그분을 두려워하나니 그분께서는 마음이 지혜로운 어떤 자도 중히 여기지 아니하시느니라, 하니라. Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
