1 엘리후가 또 계속해서 말하되, Elihu also proceeded, and said,
2 조금만 나를 용납하라. 내가 하나님을 대신하여 아직도 할 말이 있음을 그대에게 보이겠노라. Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God’s behalf.
3 내가 먼 데서 내 지식을 가져오고 나를 만드신 분에게 의를 돌리리라. I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
4 진실로 내 말들은 거짓되지 아니하리니 지식이 완전하신 이가 그대와 함께 계시느니라. For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
5 보라, 하나님은 강력하시고 아무도 멸시하지 아니하시며 권능과 지혜가 강력하사 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
6 사악한 자들의 생명을 보존하지 아니하시고 가난한 자들에게 정당한 것을 주시며 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.
7 자신의 눈을 의로운 자들에게서 떼지 아니하시고 그들이 왕들과 함께 왕좌에 있게 하시는도다. 참으로 그분께서 그들을 영원토록 굳게 세우시니 그들이 높여졌도다. He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.
8 혹시라도 그들이 족쇄에 매이고 고난의 줄에 얽혔으면 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;
9 그때에 그분께서 그들의 행위와 그들이 지나쳐서 범한 범법들을 그들에게 보여 주시고 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.
10 또 그들의 귀를 열어 훈계하시며 명령하사 그들이 불법에서 돌아오게 하시나니 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
11 만일 그들이 순종하고 그분을 섬기면 형통한 가운데 자기의 날들을 보내며 즐거운 가운데 자기의 해들을 보낼 것이로되 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12 만일 그들이 순종하지 아니하면 칼에 망하고 지식 없이 죽을 것이니라. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
13 오직 마음에서 위선을 행하는 자들은 진노를 무더기같이 쌓아 올리며 그분께서 자기들을 결박하실지라도 부르짖지 아니하나니 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
14 그들은 젊어서 죽으며 그들의 생명은 부정한 자들 가운데 있도다. They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
15 그분께서는 가난한 자를 그의 고난 중에서 건지시며 또 학대당할 때에 그들의 귀를 여시나니 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
16 바로 그와 같이 그분께서 그대를 곤경 속에서 이끌어 내사 곤경이 없는 넓은 곳으로 옮기려 하셨은즉 그대의 상에 차려질 것이 기름진 것으로 가득하리라. Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.
17 그러나 그대가 사악한 자가 받을 심판을 이루었으니 판단의 공의와 정의가 그대를 붙잡는도다. But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.
18 진노가 임하였으니 그대는 주의하여 그분께서 그대를 쳐서 제거하지 아니하시도록 하라. 그때에는 큰 대속물도 그대를 건지지 못하리라. Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
19 그분께서 그대의 재물을 귀히 여기시겠느냐? 아니라. 금도 아니요, 기력의 모든 힘도 아니라. Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.
20 그대는 밤 곧 백성들이 자기 처소에서 끊어지는 때를 사모하지 말라. Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
21 그대는 조심하여 불법에 관심을 두지 말라. 그대가 고난보다도 이것을 택하였느니라. Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
22 보라, 하나님은 자신의 권능으로 말미암아 높이 계시나니 누가 그분같이 가르치겠느냐? Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
23 누가 그분을 위하여 그분의 길을 명하였느냐? 또는 누가 말하기를, 주께서 불법을 행하셨나이다, 할 수 있으랴? Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?
24 그대는 기억하여 그분께서 하신 일 곧 사람들이 주목하는 일을 높일지어다. Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
25 사람마다 그것을 보며 사람이 먼 곳에서도 그것을 보리로다. Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.
26 보라, 하나님은 위대하시므로 우리가 그분을 알지 못하며 그분의 햇수를 헤아릴 수도 없느니라. Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
27 그분께서 물방울들을 작게 만드시매 그것들이 그것들의 수증기대로 비를 쏟나니 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:
28 구름들이 그것들을 떨어뜨리고 사람 위에 풍성히 내려 주느니라. Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
29 또한 그분께서 구름을 펴신 것이나 자신의 성막에서 요란한 소리를 내시는 것을 누가 능히 깨달을 수 있으랴? Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?
30 보라, 그분께서 그것 위에 자신의 빛을 펼치시고 바다의 밑바닥을 덮으시나니 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
31 그것들로 그분께서 백성들을 심판하시며 먹을 것을 풍성히 주시느니라. For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
32 그분께서 구름들로 빛을 가리시며 중간에 있는 구름으로 그것이 빛을 내지 못하게 명령하시나니 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.
33 그것의 요란한 소리가 그것에 관하여 보여 주며 가축들도 수증기에 관하여 알려 주느니라. The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
