1	아브람이 롯을 건지다 시날 왕 아므라벨, 엘라살 왕 아룍, 엘람 왕 그돌라오멜, 고임 왕 티드알의 시대였다.	And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;
2	이 왕들은 소돔 왕 베라, 고모라 왕 비르사, 아드마 왕 시납, 스보임 왕 세메벨, 벨라 왕 곧 소알 왕과 싸움을 벌였다.	That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
3	이들 다섯 왕은 동맹을 맺고 시띰 골짜기에 집결하였다. 시띰 골짜기는 지금 짠물호수가 있는 곳이다.	All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.
4	이들은 십이 년 동안 그돌라오멜을 섬기다가 십삼 년 되던 해에 반란을 일으켰던 것이다.	Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5	십사 년째 되던 해에 그돌라오멜은 동맹을 맺은 왕들과 함께 출동하여 아스드롯카르나임에서 르바족을 치고, 함에서 수스족을 치고 사웨키랴다임에서 엠족을 치고	And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
6	세일 산에서 호리족을 치고, 광야 근처 엘바란까지 쳐 내려왔다.	And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El–paran, which is by the wilderness.
7	그들은 거기에서 발을 돌려 재판 샘터가 있는 카데스로 쳐들어가 아말렉족의 온 땅과 하사손다말에 살고 있는 아모리족도 쳐 무찔렀다.	And they returned, and came to En–mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezon–tamar.
8	그러자 소돔 왕, 고모라 왕, 아드마 왕, 스보임 왕, 벨라 왕 곧 소알 왕이 출동하여 시띰 골짜기에 진을 치고 그들과 싸움을 벌였다.	And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;
9	그들이 엘람 왕 그돌라오멜, 고임 왕 티드알, 시날 왕 아므라벨, 엘라살 왕 아룍과 어울리니, 네 왕이 다섯 왕과 맞붙은 것이다.	With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.
10	그런데 시띰 골짜기에는 역청 수렁이 많았는데, 소돔 왕과 고모라 왕은 도망치다가 거기에 빠졌고 나머지는 산으로 도망쳤다.	And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.
11	그들은 소돔과 고모라 왕들이 가지고 있던 재물과 양식을 모두 빼앗고,	And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.
12	소돔에 살고 있는 아브람의 조카 롯도 끌고 가면서 그의 재물도 빼앗았다.	And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
13	한 사람이 도망쳐 나와서 히브리인 아브람에게 이 일을 알렸다. 아브람은 그 때 아모리인 마므레의 상수리나무가 무성한 곳에 살고 있었다. 마므레는 에스골과 아넬과 동기간으로서, 이들은 아브람과 계약을 맺은 사이였다.	And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.
14	아브람은 자기 골육이 끌려갔다는 소식을 듣고 집에서 길러낸 사병 삼백십팔 명을 소집하여 단까지 쫓아갔다.	And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
15	아브람과 그의 부하들은 여러 패로 나뉘어 밤을 틈타 그들을 기습, 다마스쿠스 북쪽에 있는 호바까지 추격하면서	And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
16	모든 것을 되찾았다. 조카 롯과 그의 재물과 부녀자들과 그 밖의 모든 사람들을 되찾아냈다.	And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
17	아브람과 멜기세덱 아브람이 그돌라오멜과 그와 동맹을 맺은 왕들을 쳐부수고 돌아오는데 소돔 왕이 왕의 골짜기라고도 불리는 사웨 골짜기까지 나와 그를 맞았다.	And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale.
18	살렘 왕 멜기세덱은 떡과 포도주를 가지고 나왔다. 그는 지극히 높으신 하느님을 섬기는 사제였다.	And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19	그는 아브람에게 복을 빌어주었다. "하늘과 땅을 만드신 지극히 높으신 하느님이여, 아브람에게 복을 내리소서.	And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20	그대의 원수를 그대의 손에 부치신 지극히 높으신 하느님께 찬양을 드리어라." 아브람은 자기가 가진 것 전부에서 십분의 일을 그에게 주었다.	And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21	이 때, 소돔 왕이 아브람에게 물건은 가지되 사람만은 돌려달라고 청하였다.	And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22	아브람은 "내가 하늘과 땅을 만드셨고 지극히 높으신 하느님 야훼께 손을 들어 맹세하오." 하면서 대답하였다.	And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
23	"아브람이 내 덕에 부자가 되었다고 할 속셈이오? 나는 실오라기 하나, 실끈 한 가닥도 당신의 것은 차지하지 않겠소.	That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
24	나는 아무것도 바라지 않지만, 젊은이들이 먹은 것만은 찾지 마시오. 그리고 함께 갔던 아넬과 에스골과 마므레만은 저희의 몫을 차지하게 해야 하겠소."	Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
