절	공동번역 개정판 (1999)	King James Version
1	길과 진리와 생명 "너희는 걱정하지 마라. 하느님을 믿고 또 나를 믿어라.	Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2	내 아버지 집에는 있을 곳이 많다. 그리고 나는 너희가 있을 곳을 마련하러 간다. 만일 거기에 있을 곳이 없다면 내가 이렇게 말하겠느냐?	In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3	가서 너희가 있을 곳을 마련하면 다시 와서 너희를 데려다가 내가 있는 곳에 같이 있게 하겠다.	And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4	너희는 내가 어디로 가는지 그 길을 알고 있다."	And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5	그러자 토마가 "주님, 저희는 주님이 어디로 가시는지도 모르는데 어떻게 그 길을 알겠습니까?" 하고 말하였다.	Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6	예수께서는 "나는 길이요 진리요 생명이다. 나를 거치지 않고서는 아무도 아버지께 갈 수 없다.	Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7	너희가 나를 알았으니 나의 아버지도 알게 될 것이다. 이제부터 너희는 그분을 알게 되었다. 아니 이미 뵈었다." 하고 말씀하셨다.	If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8	이번에는 필립보가 "주님, 저희에게 아버지를 뵙게 하여주시면 더 바랄 것이 없겠습니다." 하고 간청하였다.	Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9	예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "필립보야, 들어라. 내가 이토록 오랫동안 너희와 같이 지냈는데도 너는 나를 모른다는 말이냐? 나를 보았으면 곧 아버지를 본 것이다. 그런데도 아버지를 뵙게 해달라니 무슨 말이냐?	Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10	너는 내가 아버지 안에 있고 아버지께서 내 안에 계시다는 것을 믿지 않느냐? 내가 너희에게 하는 말도 나 스스로 하는 말이 아니라 아버지께서 내 안에 계시면서 몸소 하시는 일이다.	Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11	내가 아버지 안에 있고 아버지께서 내 안에 계시다고 한 말을 믿어라. 못 믿겠거든 내가 하는 이 일들을 보아서라도 믿어라.	Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
12	정말 잘 들어두어라. 나를 믿는 사람은 내가 하는 일을 할 뿐만 아니라 그보다 더 큰 일도 하게 될 것이다. 그것은 내가 이제 아버지께 가서	Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13	너희가 내 이름으로 구하는 것이면 무엇이든지 이루어주겠기 때문이다. 그러면 아들로 말미암아 아버지께서 영광을 받으실 것이다.	And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14	너희가 내 이름으로 구하는 것이면 무엇이든지 다 내가 이루어주겠다."	If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15	성령의 약속 "너희가 나를 사랑하면 내 계명을 지키게 될 것이다.	If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16	내가 아버지께 구하면 다른 협조자를 보내주셔서 너희와 영원히 함께 계시도록 하실 것이다.	And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17	그분은 곧 진리의 성령이시다. 세상은 그분을 보지도 못하고 알지도 못하기 때문에 그분을 받아들일 수 없지만 너희는 그분을 알고 있다. 그분이 너희와 함께 사시며 너희 안에 계시기 때문이다.	Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18	나는 너희를 고아들처럼 버려두지 않겠다. 기어이 너희에게로 돌아오겠다.	I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19	이제 조금만 지나면 세상은 나를 보지 못하게 되겠지만 내가 살아 있고 너희도 살아 있을 터이니 너희는 나를 보게 될 것이다.	Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20	그 날이 오면 너희는 내가 아버지 안에 있다는 것과 너희가 내 안에 있고 내가 너희 안에 있다는 것을 깨닫게 될 것이다.	At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21	내 계명을 받아들이고 지키는 사람이 바로 나를 사랑하는 사람이다. 나를 사랑하는 사람은 내 아버지에게 사랑을 받을 것이다. 나도 또한 그를 사랑하고 그에게 나를 나타내 보이겠다."	He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22	가리옷 사람이 아닌 다른 유다가 "주님, 주님께서 왜 세상에는 나타내 보이지 않으시고 저희에게만 나타내 보이시려고 하십니까?" 하고 물었다.	Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23	예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "나를 사랑하는 사람은 내 말을 잘 지킬 것이다. 그러면 나의 아버지께서도 그를 사랑하시겠고 아버지와 나는 그를 찾아가 그와 함께 살 것이다.	Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24	그러나 나를 사랑하지 않는 사람은 내 말을 지키지 않는다. 내가 너희에게 들려주는 것은 내 말이 아니라 나를 보내신 아버지의 말씀이다."	He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
25	"나는 너희와 함께 있는 동안에 여러 가지 이야기를 들려주었거니와	These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26	이제 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내주실 성령 곧 그 협조자는 모든 것을 너희에게 가르쳐주실 뿐만 아니라 내가 너희에게 한 말을 모두 되새기게 하여주실 것이다."	But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27	예수의 평화 "나는 너희에게 평화를 주고 간다. 내 평화를 너희에게 주는 것이다. 내가 주는 평화는 세상이 주는 평화와는 다르다. 걱정하거나 두려워하지 마라.	Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28	내가 떠나갔다가 너희에게로 다시 오겠다는 말을 너희가 듣지 않았느냐? 아버지께서는 나보다 훌륭하신 분이니 만일 너희가 나를 사랑한다면 내가 아버지께로 가는 것을 기뻐했을 것이다.	Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29	내가 지금 이 일을 미리 알려주는 것은 그 일이 일어날 때 너희로 하여금 믿게 하려는 것이다.	And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
30	너희와 이야기를 나눌 시간도 얼마 남지 않았다. 이 세상의 권력자가 가까이 오고 있다. 그가 나를 어떻게 할 수는 없지만	Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
31	나는 아버지를 사랑하고 아버지께서 분부하신 대로 실천한다는 것을 세상에 알려야 하겠다. 자, 일어나 가자."	But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
