1	나는 참 포도나무 "나는 참 포도나무요 나의 아버지는 농부이시다.	I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2	나에게 붙어 있으면서 열매를 맺지 못하는 가지는 아버지께서 모조리 쳐내시고 열매를 맺는 가지는 더 많은 열매를 맺도록 잘 가꾸신다.	Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3	너희는 내 교훈을 받아 이미 잘 가꾸어진 가지들이다.	Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4	너희는 나를 떠나지 마라. 나도 너희를 떠나지 않겠다. 포도나무에 붙어 있지 않는 가지가 스스로 열매를 맺을 수 없는 것처럼 너희도 나에게 붙어 있지 않으면 열매를 맺지 못할 것이다.	Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5	나는 포도나무요 너희는 가지다. 누구든지 나에게서 떠나지 않고 내가 그와 함께 있으면 그는 많은 열매를 맺는다. 나를 떠나서는 너희가 아무것도 할 수 없다.	I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6	나를 떠난 사람은 잘려 나간 가지처럼 밖에 버려져 말라버린다. 그러면 사람들이 이런 가지를 모아다가 불에 던져 태워버린다.	If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7	너희가 나를 떠나지 않고 또 내 말을 간직해 둔다면 무슨 소원이든지 구하는 대로 다 이루어질 것이다.	If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8	너희가 많은 열매를 맺고 참으로 나의 제자가 되면 내 아버지께서 영광을 받으실 것이다.	Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9	아버지께서 나를 사랑하신 것처럼 나도 너희를 사랑해 왔다. 그러니 너희는 언제나 내 사랑 안에 머물러 있어라.	As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10	내가 내 아버지의 계명을 지켜 그 사랑 안에 머물러 있듯이 너희도 내 계명을 지키면 내 사랑 안에 머물러 있게 될 것이다."	If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11	"내가 이 말을 한 것은 내 기쁨을 같이 나누어 너희 마음에 기쁨이 넘치게 하려는 것이다.	These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12	내가 너희를 사랑한 것처럼 너희도 서로 사랑하여라. 이것이 나의 계명이다.	This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13	벗을 위하여 제 목숨을 바치는 것보다 더 큰 사랑은 없다.	Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14	내가 명하는 것을 지키면 너희는 나의 벗이 된다.	Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15	이제 나는 너희를 종이라고 부르지 않고 벗이라고 부르겠다. 종은 주인이 하는 일을 모른다. 그러나 나는 너희에게 내 아버지에게서 들은 것을 모두 다 알려주었다.	Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16	너희가 나를 택한 것이 아니라 내가 너희를 택하여 내세운 것이다. 그러니 너희는 세상에 나가 언제까지나 썩지 않을 열매를 맺어라. 그러면 아버지께서는 너희가 내 이름으로 구하는 것을 다 들어주실 것이다.	Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17	서로 사랑하여라. 이것이 너희에게 주는 나의 계명이다."	These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18	세상의 증오 "세상이 너희를 미워하거든 너희보다도 나를 먼저 미워했다는 것을 알아두어라.	If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19	너희가 만일 세상에 속한 사람이라면 세상은 너희를 한집안 식구로 여겨 사랑할 것이다. 그러나 너희는 세상에 속하지 않았을 뿐더러 오히려 내가 세상에서 가려낸 사람들이기 때문에 세상이 너희를 미워하는 것이다.	If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20	종은 그 주인보다 더 나을 수가 없다고 한 내 말을 기억하여라. 그들이 나를 박해했으면 너희도 박해할 것이고 내 말을 지켰으면 너희의 말도 지킬 것이다.	Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21	그들은 너희가 내 제자라 해서 이렇게 대할 것이다. 그들은 나를 보내신 분을 모르고 있다.	But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22	내가 와서 그들에게 일러주지 않았던들 그들에게는 죄가 없었을 것이다. 그러나 이제는 그들이 자기 죄를 변명할 길이 없게 되었다.	If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
23	나를 미워하는 자는 나의 아버지까지도 미워한다.	He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24	내가 일찍이 아무도 하지 못한 일들을 그들 앞에서 하지 않았던들 그들에게는 죄가 없었을 것이다. 그런데 내가 한 일을 보고서도 그들은 나와 또 나의 아버지까지 미워한다.	If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25	이리하여 그들의 율법서에 '그들은 까닭없이 나를 미워하였다.'고 기록되어 있는 말씀이 이루어졌다."	But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
26	"내가 아버지께 청하여 너희에게 보낼 협조자 곧 아버지께로부터 나오시는 진리의 성령이 오시면 그분이 나를 증언할 것이다.	But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27	그리고 너희도 처음부터 나와 함께 있었기 때문에 나의 증인이 될 것이다."	And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
