| 1 | ထာဝရဘုရားသည် အိမ်ကို ဆောက်တော်မမူ လျှင်၊ ဆောက်သော သူတို့သည် အချည်းနှီးလုပ်ဆောင် ကြ၏။ ထာဝရဘုရားသည် မြို့ကို စောင့်တော်မမူလျှင်၊ ကင်းစောင့်တို့သည် အချည်းနှီးစောင့်ကြ၏။ | Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. |
| 2 | စောစောထလျက်၊ ညဉ့်နက်သည်တိုင်အောင် မအိပ်ဘဲနေလျက်၊ ပင်ပန်းစွာ အစာစားလျက်နေသော် လည်း အကျိုးမရှိ။ အိပ်ပျော်ရသော အခွင့်ကို ချစ်တော်မူ သော သူအားအမှန်ပေးတော်မူ၏။ | It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. |

| 5 | မိမိမြှားတောင့်ကို သူတို့နှင့်ပြည့်စေသောသူ သည် မင်္ဂလာရှိ၏။ သူတို့သည် ရှက်ကြောက်ခြင်းမရှိ။ ရန်သူတို့ကို တံခါးဝ၌ ဆီးတားကြလိမ့်မည်။ | Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. |
