| 2 | 願はくは我父にて在す神、及び主イエズス、キリストより、恩寵と平安とを汝等に賜はらん事を。 | Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 3 | 兄弟等よ、我等は絶えず汝等に就きて相當に神に感謝せざるべからず。是汝等の信仰益増加して、面々の愛情も皆互に豊なればなり。 | We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; |
| 4 | 然れば我等自らも汝等を以て、即ち其忍べる凡ての迫害及び患難に於る忍耐と信仰とを以て、神の諸教會の間に誇とす。 | So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: |
| 5 | 此患難は神の正しき審判の徴にして、汝等が神の國の為に苦しみて之に入るに足る者とせられん為なり。 | Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: |
| 6 | 其は汝等を悩ます人々に悩を以て報い給ふは、神に取りて正當の事なれば、 | Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; |
| 7 | 悩める汝等にも我等と共に安息を賜ふ事正當なり。是主イエズス、其能力の天使等を随へて天より顕れ給ふ時の事にして、 | And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, |
| 8 | 即ち焔の中に於て、神を知らざる人々、我主イエズス、キリストの福音に從はざる人々に報い給ふ時に當りて、 | In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: |
| 9 | 彼等は主の御顔と其能力の光榮とを離れて終なき亡の罰を受けん、 | Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; |
| 10 | 其時主來り給ひて、其聖徒によりて光榮を受け給ひ、信じたる凡ての人より誉を得給ふべし、是我等の證する所、汝等に信ぜられたればなり。 | When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. |
| 11 | 故に我等常に汝等の為に祈りて、我神汝等をして其召に適はしめ、且及ぶ限り凡ての善意と信仰の業とを全うし給はん事を願ひ奉る。 | Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: |
| 12 | 是我神と主イエズス、キリストとの恩寵に由りて、我主イエズス、キリストの御名汝等の中に光榮を着せられ、汝等も彼に在りて光榮を得ん為なり。 | That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
