| 1 | 兄弟等よ、我主イエズス、キリストの再臨に就き、又我等が之と一致すべき事に就きては、 | Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, |
| 2 | 或は霊により、或は我等より出でしが如き物語、或は書簡によりて、主の日迫れりとて汝等が容易く本心より動かされず、又驚かされざらん事を希ふ。 | That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. |
| 3 | 誰にも決して欺かるること勿れ、蓋先棄教の事來りて、罪の人即ち亡の子顕るるに非ずば、[主の日は來らじ]。 | Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; |
| 4 | 彼は反對して一切の所謂神、又は禮拝物に激しく立逆らひ、神殿に坐して自ら神たるが如く己を示すにすら至るべし。 | Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. |
| 5 | 我が尚汝等の中に在りし時、是等の事を言ひ居たりしを、汝等は記憶せざるか。 | Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? |
| 6 | 彼の時期に至りて顕れしめん為に今彼を止むる者の何たるかは、汝等の知る所なり。 | And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. |
| 7 | 蓋不義の奥義は既に活動せり、但今之を止めつつある者の除かるる迄なり。 | For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. |
| 8 | 其時彼の不義者顕され、主イエズス御口の息を以て之を殺し、己が降臨の光榮を以て之を亡ぼし給ふべし。 | And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: |
| 9 | 彼者の來るはサタンの勢力に由る事にして、一切の異能の業と徴と僞りの奇蹟と、 | Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, |
| 10 | 不義の誑惑とを盡して亡ぶる人々に當らん。是彼等が救はるる様、眞理の愛を受けざりし故なり。然れば神其中に惑を働かしめ給ひて、彼等は偽を信ずるに至らん。 | And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. |
| 11 | 是眞理を信ぜずして不義に同意したる人々の悉く審判せられん為なり。 | And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: |
| 12 | 然れど主に愛せられ奉る兄弟等よ、我等は常に汝等の為に神に感謝し奉るべきなり、其は神、[聖]霊によれる成聖と眞理の信仰とによりて救霊を得しむべく、素より汝等を選み給ひたればなり。 | That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. |
| 13 | 我等の福音を以て汝等を之に召し給ひしも、我主イエズス、キリストの光榮を得しめ給はん為なり。 | But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: |
| 14 | 然れば兄弟等よ、毅然として我等の或は物語、或は書簡に由りて習ひし傳を守れ。 | Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 15 | 願はくは我主イエズス、キリスト御自ら、并に我等を愛し給ひて恩寵による永遠の慰と善き希望とを賜ひし我父にて在す神、 | Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. |
| 16 | 汝等の心を勧めて凡ての善き業と言とに堅うし給はん事を。 | Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, |
