| 1 | 蓋我等は、幕屋なる我が地上の住處破るれば、人の手に成らずして神より賜はれる住處、永遠の家が我等の為に天に在る事を知る。 | For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. |
| 2 | 即ち我等はこの住處に在りて嘆きつつ、此儘にして天よりの住處を上に着せられん事を希ふ。 | For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: |
| 3 | 是既に着たるものにして裸にて見出されずば誠に然あるべし。 | If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. |
| 4 | 蓋我等が此幕屋に在りて、壓迫を蒙りて歎くは、是剥がるるを好まず、却て此上に着せられ、死すべき部分を直に生命に呑入れられん事を欲すればなり。 | For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. |
| 5 | 之が為に我等を造り給へる者は即ち神に在し、之が保證として[聖]霊を我等に賜ひたるなり。 | Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. |
| 6 | 然れば我等は何時も憶する事なく、此肉體に在る間は主に離れて流浪する者なる事を知りて、 | Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: |
| 7 | 現に像を見ず信仰を以て歩む者なれば、 | (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) |
| 8 | 敢えて憶する事なく、寧肉體を離れて主に侍らん事を欲す。 | We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. |
| 9 | 然れば肉體に在るも之を離るるも御意に適はん事を勉む、 | Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. |
| 10 | 其は我等皆キリストの法廷に於て顕れ、或は善、或は惡、各肉體に在りて為しし所に報いらるべければなり。 | For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. |
| 11 | 斯の如く、我等は主の畏れ奉るべき事を知人々を勧む。我等は明に神に知られたれば、汝等の良心にも明に知られたるべき事を信ず。 | Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. |
| 12 | 我等は又汝等の前に己を立つる者に非ず、唯我等を以て誇となす機會を汝等に與へんとす、是心にならで面に誇れる人々に答ふる事を得させん為なり。 | For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart. |
| 13 | 即ち我等が浮るるも神の為、己が事を謙遜に語るも亦汝等の為なり。 | For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause. |
| 14 | 蓋キリストの寵我等に迫れり、我等想へらく、凡ての人の為に一人死し給ひしなれば、是凡ての人死したるなり。 | For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: |
| 15 | 又キリストが（凡ての人の為に）死し給ひしは、活ける人をして最早己が為に活きず、寧己等の為に死し且復活し給ひし者の為に活きしめんとてなり。 | And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. |
| 16 | 故に今より後我等は人を肉身によりて知らず、曾てはキリストを肉身によりて知りたりとも、今は最早斯の如くにして知るに非ず。 | Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. |
| 17 | 人若キリストに在れば、新に造られたる者となりて、舊き所は既に過去り、何事も新になりたるなり。 | Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. |
| 18 | 是等の事は皆神より出づ、即ち神はキリストを以て我等を己と和睦せしめ、且和睦の務を我等に授け給へり。 | And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; |
| 19 | 蓋神はキリストの中に在して世を己と和睦せしめ、又人々に其罪を負はせず、我等に委ぬるに和睦の言を以てし給へり。 | To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. |
| 20 | 然れば我等はキリストの為に使節たり、恰も神が我等を以て汝等に勧め給ふに齊し。キリストに代りて希ふ、神と和睦し奉れ。 | Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. |
| 21 | 罪を知り給はざる者を我等の為に罪と見做し給ひしは、我等がキリストに於て神の義とせられん為なり。 | For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. |
