| 1 | 「その時，天の王国は，自分のともし火を持って花婿を迎えに出た十人の処女のようになる。 | Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. |
| 2 | そのうち五人は愚かで，五人は賢かった。 | And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. |
| 3 | 愚かな者たちは，ともし火を持って行くとき，一緒に油を持って行かなかった。 | They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: |
| 4 | だが，賢い者たちは，ともし火と一緒に油を器に入れて持って行った。 | But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. |
| 5 | さて，花婿が遅れている間に，彼女たちはみな，うとうとして眠り込んでしまった。 | While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. |
| 6 | ところが，真夜中に，『見よ！ 花婿が来た！ 彼を迎えに出よ！』という叫びが上がった。 | And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. |
| 7 | その時，それらの処女たちはみな起き上がり，自分たちのともし火を整えた。 | Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. |
| 8 | 愚かな者たちは賢い者たちに言った，『あなた方の油を少し分けてください。わたしたちのともし火は消えそうですから』。 | And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. |
| 9 | だが，賢い者たちは答えて言った，『わたしたちとあなた方に足りるほどはないかも知れません。それより，商人たちのところに行って，自分のために買いなさい』。 | But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. |
| 10 | 彼女たちが買いに出ている間に，花婿が来た。そして，用意ができている者たちは，彼と共に婚宴の部屋に入った。それから戸が閉められた。 | And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. |
| 11 | その後，ほかの処女たちもやって来て，『主よ，主よ，わたしたちに開けてください』と言った。 | Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. |
| 12 | だが，彼は答えた，『本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。わたしはあなた方を知らない』。 | But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. |
| 13 | だから，見張っていなさい。あなた方は人の子が来るその日もその時も知らないからだ。 | Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. |
| 14 | 「それは，外国に出かけるとき，自分の召使いたちを呼んで，彼らに自分の財産を託した人のようだからだ。 | For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. |
| 15 | それぞれの能力に応じて，ある者には五タレント，別の者には二タレント，別の者には一タレントを与えてから，旅に出た。 | And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. |
| 16 | 五タレントを受けた者はすぐに出て行き，それを使って商売をし，ほかに五タレントをもうけた。 | Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. |
| 17 | 二タレントを受けた者も，同じくほかに二タレントをもうけた。 | And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. |
| 18 | だが，一タレントを受けた者は，出て行って地面に穴を掘り，自分の主人のお金を隠しておいた。 | But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. |
| 19 | 「さて，長い時ののち，それらの召使いたちの主人がやって来て，彼らと貸し借りを精算した。 | After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. |
| 20 | 五タレントを受けた者が進み出て，ほかの五タレントを差し出して言った，『ご主人様，あなたはわたしに五タレントを渡されました。ご覧ください，わたしはさらに五タレントをもうけました』。 | And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. |
| 21 | 「彼の主人は彼に言った，『よくやった，忠実な善い召使いよ。あなたはわずかなものに忠実だったから，多くのものの上に任命しよう。あなたの主人の喜びに入りなさい』。 | His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. |
| 22 | 「二タレントを受けた者が進み出て言った，『ご主人様，あなたはわたしに二タレントを渡されました。ご覧ください，わたしはさらに二タレントをもうけました』。 | He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. |
| 23 | 「彼の主人は彼に言った，『よくやった，忠実な善い召使いよ。あなたはわずかなものに忠実だったから，多くのものの上に任命しよう。あなたの主人の喜びに入りなさい』。 | His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. |
| 24 | 「一タレントを受けた者も進み出て言った，『ご主人様，わたしはあなたが厳しい方で，種をまかなかった所で刈り取り，散らさなかった所で集められるということを知っていました。 | Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: |
| 25 | わたしは怖くなり，行ってあなたの一タレントを地中に隠しました。ご覧ください，これがあなたのものです』。 | And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. |
| 26 | 「だが，彼の主人は彼に答えた，『無精な悪い召使いよ。あなたはわたしが種をまかなかった所で刈り取り，散らさなかった所で集めることを知っていたのか。 | His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: |
| 27 | それなら，わたしのお金を銀行家に預けておくべきだった。そうすれば，帰って来た時，自分のものを利息と一緒に戻してもらえただろうに。 | Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. |
| 28 | だから，その一タレントを彼から取り上げて，十タレント持っている者に与えなさい。 | Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. |
| 29 | だれでも持っている者にはさらに与えられて豊かになるが，持っていない者からはその持っているものまでも取り去られることになるからだ。 | For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. |
| 30 | この役に立たない召使いを外の闇に投げ出せ。そこには嘆きと歯ぎしりとがあるだろう』。 | And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. |
| 31 | 「さて，人の子が自分の栄光のうちに到来し，すべての聖なるみ使いたちが彼と共に到来するその時，彼は自分の栄光の座に着くだろう。 | When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: |
| 32 | すべての民族が彼の前に集められるだろう。そして彼は，羊飼いが羊をヤギからより分けるように，彼らを互いにより分け， | And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: |
| 33 | 羊を自分の右に，ヤギを自分の左に置くだろう。 | And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. |
| 34 | その時，王は自分の右にいる者たちにこう告げるだろう。『さあ，わたしの父に祝福された者たち，世の基礎が据えられて以来あなた方のために備えられていた王国を受け継ぎなさい。 | Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: |
| 35 | わたしが飢えると食べ物を与え，わたしが渇くと飲み物を与え，よそから来ると宿を貸し， | For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: |
| 36 | 裸でいると服を着せ，病気でいると見舞い，ろうやにいると来てくれたからだ』。 | Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. |
| 37 | 「その時，義人たちは彼に答えてこう言うだろう。『主よ，いつわたしたちは，あなたが飢えておられるのを見て食物を差し上げたり，渇いておられるのを見て飲み物を差し上げましたか。 | Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? |
| 38 | いつわたしたちは，あなたがよそから来られたのを見て宿を貸し，裸でおられるのを見て服をお着せしましたか。 | When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? |
| 39 | いつわたしたちは，あなたが病気をなさったり，ろうやにおられるのを見て，あなたのところに参りましたか』。 | Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? |
| 40 | 「王は彼らにこう答えるだろう。『本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。これらわたしの最も小さい兄弟たちの一人にあなた方がしたことは，わたしにしたのだ』。 | And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. |
| 41 | それから，王はまた自分の左にいる者たちにこう言うだろう。『のろわれた者たちよ，わたしから離れて，悪魔とその使いたちのために備えられた永遠の火に入りなさい。 | Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: |
| 42 | わたしが飢えても食べ物を与えず，わたしが渇いても飲み物を与えず， | For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: |
| 43 | よそから来ても宿を貸さず，裸でいても服を着せず，病気でいたり，ろうやにいても見舞ってくれなかったからだ』。 | I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. |
| 44 | 「その時，彼らも答えてこう言うだろう。『主よ，いつわたしたちは，あなたが飢えておられたり，渇いておられたり，よそから来られたり，裸でおられたり，病気をなさったり，ろうやにおられるのを見て，お世話をしませんでしたか』。 | Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? |
| 45 | 「その時，彼は彼らに答えてこう言うだろう。『本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。これらわたしの最も小さい兄弟たちの一人にあなた方がしなかったことは，わたしにしなかったのだ』。 | Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. |
| 46 | これらの者は永遠の処罰に入り，義人たちは永遠の命に入るだろう」 。 | And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. |
