| 2 | 「あなた方が知っているとおり，二日後には過ぎ越しがやって来る。そして人の子ははりつけにされるために引き渡される」 。 | Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. |
| 3 | その時，祭司長たちと律法学者たちと民の長老たちは，カイアファスと呼ばれる大祭司の邸宅に集まった。 | Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, |
| 4 | 策略によってイエスを捕まえて殺そうと相談した。 | And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. |
| 5 | しかし彼らは言った，「祭りの間はいけない。民の暴動が起きるかも知れないからだ」。 | But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people. |
| 6 | さて，イエスがベタニアでらい病の人シモンの家にいた時， | Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, |
| 7 | 一人の女が，非常に高価な香油の入った雪花石こうのつぼを持って彼に近寄って来て，それを食卓に着いている彼の頭に注いだ。 | There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. |
| 8 | しかし，これを見て弟子たちは憤慨し，こう言った。「なぜこんな無駄づかいをしたのか。 | But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? |
| 9 | この香油なら高く売れたし，そうすれば貧しい人々に施すことができたのに」。 | For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. |
| 10 | しかし，これを知ってイエスは彼らに言った，「なぜあなた方はこの女を悩ませるのか。彼女はわたしに良い行ないをしてくれたのだ。 | When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. |
| 11 | あなた方には，貧しい人々はいつでも一緒にいるが，わたしはいつでもいるわけではないからだ。 | For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. |
| 12 | 彼女がわたしの体にこの香油を注いだのは，わたしに埋葬に備えるためだったのだ。 | For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. |
| 13 | 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。世界中どこでも，この福音が宣教される所では，この女の行なったこともまた，彼女の記念として語られるだろう」 。 | Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. |

| 15 | 「彼をあなた方に引き渡せば，わたしに何をくれますか」と言った。彼らはそれを聞いて喜び，彼にお金を与えることを約束した。彼らは彼に銀三十枚を量り分けた。 | And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. |

| 19 | 弟子たちはイエスが彼らに命じたとおりに行ない，彼らは過ぎ越しの用意をした。 | And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover. |
| 20 | 夕方になった時，彼は十二弟子と共に食卓に横になった。 | Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve. |
| 21 | 彼らが食事をしていると，彼は言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，あなた方の一人がわたしを売り渡すだろう」 。 | And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. |
| 22 | 彼らは深く悲しみ，一人ずつ彼に「主よ，それはわたしではないでしょうね」と尋ね始めた。 | And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? |
| 23 | 彼は答えた，「わたしと共に手を鉢に浸している者，その者がわたしを売り渡すだろう。 | And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. |
| 24 | 人の子は自分について書いてあるとおりに去って行く。だが，人の子を売り渡すその者は災いだ！ 生まれて来なかった方が，その者のためには良かっただろう」 。 | The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. |
| 25 | イエスを売り渡したユダが答えた，「ラビ，それはわたしではないでしょうね」。 イエスは彼に言った，「あなたがそう言った」 。 | Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said. |
| 26 | 彼らが食事をしていると，イエスはパンを取り，それに対する感謝をささげてからそれを裂いた。弟子たちに与えてこう言った。「取って，食べなさい。これはわたしの体だ」 。 | And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. |
| 27 | 杯を取り，感謝をささげてから，彼らに与えてこう言った。「あなた方は皆，この杯から飲みなさい。 | And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; |
| 28 | これは新しい契約のためのわたしの血だ。それは罪の許しのため，多くの人のために注ぎ出されるのだ。 | For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. |
| 29 | だが，本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，わたしの父の王国においてそれを新たに飲むその日まで，わたしは今後ブドウの木のこの産物を飲むことはない」 。 | But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom. |

| 31 | それからイエスは彼らに言った，「今夜，あなた方全員がわたしのためにつまずくだろう。『わたしは羊飼いを打つ。すると羊の群れは散らされるだろう』と書いてあるからだ。 | Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. |
| 32 | だが，わたしは起こされた後，あなた方より先にガリラヤに行くだろう」 。 | But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. |
| 33 | しかしペトロは彼に答えた，「みんながあなたのためにつまずいたとしても，わたしは決してつまずきません」。 | Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. |
| 34 | イエスは彼に言った，「本当にはっきりとあなたに告げるが，今夜，おんどりが鳴く前に，あなたは三度わたしを否認するだろう」 。 | Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. |
| 35 | ペトロは彼に言った，「あなたと一緒に死ななければならないとしても，わたしはあなたを否認しません」。ほかの弟子たちも皆，同じ事を言った。 | Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples. |
| 36 | それからイエスは彼らと共にゲツセマネと呼ばれる場所にやって来た。彼は弟子たちに言った，「わたしがあちらに行って祈っている間，ここに座っていなさい」 。 | Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. |
| 37 | 彼はペトロとゼベダイの二人の子らを伴って行ったが，悲しみ，またひどく苦悩し始めた。 | And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. |
| 38 | その時，彼は彼らに言った，「わたしの魂は死ぬほどに深く悲しんでいる。ここにとどまって，わたしと共に見張っていなさい」 。 | Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. |
| 39 | 少し進んで行ってうつ伏し，祈って言った，「わたしの父よ，もしできることなら，この杯をわたしから過ぎ去らせてください。それでも，わたしの望むことではなく，あなたの望まれることを」 。 | And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. |
| 40 | 弟子たちのところに来て，彼らが眠っているのを見つけて，ペトロに言った，「何と，あなたはわたしと共に一時間も見張っていられなかったのか。 | And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? |
| 41 | あなた方は誘惑に陥らないよう，見張って，祈っていなさい。霊はその気でも，肉体は弱いのだ」 。 | Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. |
| 42 | 再び，二度目に離れて行き，祈って言った，「わたしの父よ，わたしが飲まない限り，この杯がわたしから過ぎ去らないのでしたら，あなたの望まれることが行なわれますように」 。 | He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. |
| 43 | もう一度やって来て，彼らが眠っているのを見つけた。彼らの目は非常に重くなっていたのである。 | And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. |
| 44 | 彼は彼らを残して再び離れて行き，三度目に同じ言葉で祈った。 | And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. |
| 45 | それから，三度目に弟子たちのところに来て，彼らに言った，「なお眠って，休息をとりなさい。見よ，時が来た。そして人の子は罪人たちの手に売り渡される。 | Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. |
| 46 | 立ちなさい，さあ行こう。見よ，わたしを売り渡す者が近づいて来た」 。 | Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me. |
| 47 | 彼がまだ話しているうちに，見よ，十二人の一人のユダがやって来た。そして彼と共に，祭司長たちと民の長老たちのもとから来た群衆が，剣やこん棒を手にしてやって来た。 | And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. |
| 48 | さて，イエスを売り渡した者は，「わたしが口づけするのがその者だ。それを捕まえろ」と言って，彼らに合図を伝えていた。 | Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. |
| 49 | すぐにイエスに近寄り，「こんばんは，ラビ！」と言って，口づけした。 | And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. |
| 50 | イエスは彼に言った，「友よ，なぜここにいるのか」 。その時，彼らはイエスに手をかけて捕まえた。 | And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. |
| 51 | 見よ，イエスと共にいた者の一人が，手を伸ばして剣を抜き，大祭司の召使いに撃ちかかり，その片耳を切り落とした。 | And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. |
| 52 | その時イエスは彼に言った，「剣をもとの所に納めなさい。すべて剣を取る者は剣で死ぬからだ。 | Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. |
| 53 | それともあなたは，わたしがわたしの父に求めて，今すぐに十二軍団以上のみ使いたちを遣わしていただくことができないとでも思うのか。 | Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? |
| 54 | だがそれでは，こうならなければならないと書いてある聖句はどうして果たされるだろうか」 。 | But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? |
| 55 | その時，イエスは群衆に言った，「あなた方は強盗に対するかのように，剣とこん棒を持ってわたしを捕まえに出て来たのか。わたしは毎日神殿に座って教えていたのに，あなた方はわたしを逮捕しなかった。 | In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. |
| 56 | だが，このすべてが起こったのは，預言者たちの聖句が果たされるためなのだ」 。 その時，弟子たちは皆，彼を残して逃げて行った。 | But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. |
| 57 | イエスを捕まえた者たちは，彼を大祭司カイアファスのところに引いて行った。そこには祭司長たちと長老たちが集まっていた。 | And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. |
| 58 | 他方，ペトロは遠くからイエスに付いて行き，大祭司の中庭までやって来た。そして中に入り，成り行きを見ようとして，役人たちと共に座った。 | But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end. |
| 59 | さて，祭司長たちと長老たちと最高法院全体は，イエスを死に渡すため，彼に不利な証言を探していたが， | Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; |
| 60 | 何も見つからなかった。多くの偽りの証人が進み出たにもかかわらず，何も見つからなかった。しかし，最後に二人の者が進み出て， | But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, |
| 61 | こう言った。「この者は，『わたしは神の神殿を壊し，それを三日で建てる』と言いました」。 | And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. |
| 62 | 大祭司が立ち上がって彼に言った，「何も答えないのか。これらの者たちがお前に不利な証言をしているのは，どういうことなのか」。 | And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? |
| 63 | しかし彼は黙っていた。大祭司は彼に尋ねた，「生ける神に誓ってお前に命じる。我々に告げよ，お前は神の子，キリストなのかどうか」。 | But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. |
| 64 | イエスは言った，「あなたがそう言っている。それでも，あなた方に告げるが，今後，あなた方は人の子が力ある方の右に座り，天の雲と共に来るのを見るだろう」 。 | Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. |
| 65 | その時，大祭司は自分の衣を引き裂いてこう言った。「この者は冒とくを口にした！ どうしてこれ以上証人が必要だろうか。見よ，あなた方は今，冒とくの言葉を聞いたのだ。 | Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. |
| 66 | あなた方はどう思うか」。 彼らは答えた，「この者は死に値する！」 | What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. |
| 67 | それから，彼らは彼の顔につばをかけ，こぶしで殴り，「預言しろ！」と言い始めた。ある者たちは彼を平手で打って， | Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, |
| 68 | こう言った。「キリストよ，我々に預言しろ！ お前を打ったのはだれか」。 | Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee? |
| 69 | さて，ペトロが外の中庭に座っていると，一人の女中が彼のところに来て，こう言った。「あなたもガリラヤ人イエスと一緒にいました！」 | Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee. |
| 70 | しかし彼はみんなの前でそれを否定して言った，「わたしはあなたが何のことを言っているのか分からない」。 | But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest. |
| 71 | 彼が入り口の方に出て行くと，別の女が彼を見て，そこにいる者たちにこう言った。「この人もナザレ人イエスと一緒にいました」。 | And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. |
| 72 | 彼は誓いつつ再びそれを否定した。「わたしはその人を知らない」。 | And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man. |
| 73 | しばらくして，そばに立っていた者たちが近寄って来てペトロに言った，「確かにあなたも彼らの一人だ。方言であなたのことが分かるからだ」。 | And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee. |
| 74 | その時，彼はのろったり誓ったりし始めて言った，「わたしはその人を知らないのだ！」 すぐにおんどりが鳴いた。 | Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. |
| 75 | ペトロは，「おんどりが鳴く前に，あなたは三度わたしを否認するだろう」 とイエスが自分に言った言葉を思い出した。そして，外に出て，激しく泣いた。 | And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly. |
