| 1 | 我が子よわが法を忘るるなかれ 汝の心にわが誡命をまもれ | My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: |
| 2 | さらば此事は汝の日をながくし生命の年を延べ平康をなんぢに加ふべし | For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. |
| 3 | 仁慈と眞實とを汝より離すことなかれ 之を汝の項にむすび これを汝の心の碑にしるせ | Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: |
| 4 | さらばなんぢ神と人との前に恩寵と好名とを得べし | So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. |
| 5 | 汝こころを盡してヱホバに倚賴め おのれの聰明に倚ることなかれ | Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. |
| 6 | 汝すべての途にてヱホバをみとめよ さらばなんぢの途を直くしたまふべし | In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. |
| 7 | 自から看て聰明とする勿れ ヱホバを畏れて惡を離れよ | Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. |
| 8 | これ汝の身に良薬となり汝の骨に滋潤とならん | It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. |
| 9 | 汝の貨財と汝がすべての產物の初生をもてヱホバをあがめよ | Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: |
| 10 | さらば汝の倉庫はみちて餘り 汝の酒醡は新しき酒にて溢れん | So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. |
| 11 | 我子よ汝ヱホバの懲治をかろんずる勿れ その譴責を受くるを厭ふこと勿れ | My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: |
| 12 | それヱホバはその愛する者をいましめたまふ あたかも父のその愛する子を譴むるが如し | For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. |
| 13 | 智慧を求め得る人および聰明をうる人は福なり | Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. |
| 14 | そは智慧を獲るは銀を獲るに愈りその利は精金よりも善ければなり | For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. |
| 15 | 智慧は眞珠よりも尊し 汝の凡ての財貨も之と比ぶるに足らず | She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. |
| 16 | 其右の手には長壽あり その左の手には富と尊貴とあり | Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. |
| 17 | その途は樂しき途なり その徑すぢは悉く平康し | Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. |
| 18 | これは執る者には生命の樹なり これ持ものは福なり | She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. |
| 19 | ヱホバ智慧をもて地をさだめ 聰明をもて天を置たまへり | The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. |
| 20 | その知識によりて海洋はわきいで 雲は露をそそぐなり | By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. |
| 21 | 我が子よこれらを汝の眼より離す勿れ 聰明と謹愼とを守れ | My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: |
| 22 | 然ばこれは汝の霊魂の生命となり汝の項の妝飾とならん | So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. |
| 23 | かくて汝やすらかに汝の途をゆかん 又なんぢの足つまづかじ | Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. |
| 24 | なんぢ臥とき怖るるところあらず 臥ときは酣く睡らん | When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. |
| 25 | なんぢ猝然なる恐懼をおそれず 惡者の滅亡きたる時も之を怖るまじ | Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. |
| 26 | そはヱホバは汝の倚賴むものにして汝の足を守りてとらはれしめたまはざるべければなり | For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. |
| 27 | 汝の手善をなす力あらば之を爲すべき者に爲さざること勿れ | Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. |
| 28 | もし汝に物あらば汝の鄰に向ひ 去て復來れ明日われ汝に予へんといふなかれ | Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. |
| 29 | 汝の鄰なんぢの傍に安らかに居らば之にむかひて惡を謀ること勿れ | Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. |
| 30 | 人もし汝に惡を爲さずば故なく之と爭ふこと勿れ | Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm. |
| 31 | 暴虐人を羨むことなく そのすべての途を好とすることなかれ | Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. |
| 32 | そは邪曲なる者はヱホバに惡まるればなり されど義者はその親き者とせらるべし | For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous. |
| 33 | ヱホバの呪詛は惡者の家にあり されど義者の室はかれにめぐまる | The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. |
| 34 | 彼は嘲笑者をあざけり 謙る者に恩惠をあたへたまふ | Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. |
| 35 | 智者は尊榮をえ 愚なる者は羞辱之をとりさるべし | The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools. |
