| 1 | ダビデの子イスラエルの王ソロモンの箴言 | The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; |
| 2 | こは人に智慧と訓誨とをしらしめ哲言を暁らせ | To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; |
| 3 | さとき訓と公義と公平と正直とをえしめ | To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; |
| 4 | 拙者にさとりを與へ少者に知識と謹愼とを得させん爲なり | To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. |
| 5 | 智慧ある者は之を聞て學にすすみ 哲者は智略をうべし | A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: |
| 6 | 人これによりて箴言と譬喩と智慧ある者の言とその隠語とを悟らん | To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. |
| 7 | ヱホバを畏るるは知識の本なり 愚なる者は智慧と訓誨とを軽んず | The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. |
| 8 | 我が子よ汝の父の敎をきけ 汝の母の法を棄ることなかれ | My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: |
| 9 | これ汝の首の美しき冠となり 汝の項の妝飾とならん | For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. |
| 10 | わが子よ惡者なんぢ誘ふとも從ふことなかれ | My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. |
| 11 | 彼等なんぢにむかひて請ふ われらと偕にきたれ 我儕まちぶせして人の血を流し 無辜ものを故なきに伏てねらひ | If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: |
| 12 | 陰府のごとく彼等を活たるままにて呑み 壯健なる者を墳に下る者のごとくになさん | Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: |
| 13 | われら各樣のたふとき財貨をえ 奪ひ取たる物をもて我儕の家に盈さん | We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: |
| 14 | 汝われらと偕に籤をひけ 我儕とともに一の金嚢を持べしと云とも | Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: |
| 15 | 我が子よ彼等とともに途を歩むことなかれ 汝の足を禁めてその路にゆくこと勿れ | My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: |
| 16 | そは彼らの足は惡に趨り 血を流さんとて急げばなり | For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. |
| 17 | (すべて鳥の目の前にて羅を張は徒勞なり) | Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. |
| 18 | 彼等はおのれの血のために埋伏し おのれの命をふしてねらふ | And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. |
| 19 | 凡て利を貧る者の途はかくの如し 是その持主をして生命をうしなはしむるなり | So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. |
| 20 | 智慧外に呼はり衢に其聲をあげ | Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: |
| 21 | 熱閙しき所にさけび 城市の門の口邑の中にその言をのべていふ | She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, |
| 22 | なんぢら拙者のつたなきを愛し 嘲笑者のあざけりを樂しみ 愚なる者の知識を惡むは幾時までぞや | How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? |
| 23 | わが督斥にしたがひて心を改めよ 視よわれ我が霊を汝らにそそぎ 我が言をなんぢらに示さん | Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. |
| 24 | われ呼たれども汝らこたへず 手を伸たれども顧る者なく | Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; |
| 25 | かへつて我がすべての勸告をすて我が督斥を受ざりしに由り | But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: |
| 26 | われ汝らが禍災にあふとき之を笑ひ 汝らの恐懼きたらんとき嘲るべし | I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; |
| 27 | これは汝らのおそれ颶風の如くきたり 汝らのほろび颺風の如くきたり 艱難とかなしみと汝らにきたらん時なり | When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. |
| 28 | そのとき彼等われを呼ばん 然れどわれ應へじ 只管に我を求めん されど我に遇じ | Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: |
| 29 | かれら知識を憎み又ヱホバを畏るることを悦ばず | For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord: |
| 30 | わが勸に從はず凡て我督斥をいやしめたるによりて | They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. |
| 31 | 己の途の果を食ひおのれの策略に飽べし | Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. |
| 32 | 拙者の違逆はおのれを殺し 愚なる者の幸福はおのれを滅さん | For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. |
| 33 | されど我に聞ものは平穩に住ひかつ禍害にあふ恐怖なくして安然ならん | But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. |
