| 1 | ヨブ答へて曰く | Then Job answered and said, |
| 2 | 斯る事は我おほく聞り 汝らはみな人を慰めんとして却つて人を煩はす者なり | I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. |
| 3 | 虚しき言語あに終極あらんや 汝なにに勵されて應答をなすや | Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? |
| 4 | 我もまた汝らの如くに言ことを得 もし汝らの身わが身と處を換なば我は言語を練て汝らを攻め 汝らにむかひて首を搖ことを得 | I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul’s stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you. |
| 5 | また口をもて汝らを強くし 唇の慰藉をもて汝らの憂愁を解ことを得るなり | But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief. |
| 6 | たとひ我言を出すとも我憂愁は解ず 默するとても何ぞ我身の安くなること有んや | Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased? |
| 7 | 彼いま已に我を疲らしむ 汝わが宗族をことごとく荒せり | But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company. |
| 8 | なんぢ我をして皺らしめたり 是われに向ひて見證をなすなり 又わが痩おとろへたる状貌わが面の前に現はれ立て我を攻む | And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face. |
| 9 | かれ怒てわれを撕裂きかつ窘しめ 我にむかひて齒を噛鳴し我敵となり目を鋭して我を看る | He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me. |
| 10 | 彼ら我にむかひて口を張り 我を賤しめてわが頬を打ち 相集まりて我を攻む | They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me. |
| 11 | 神われを邪曲なる者に交し 惡き者の手に擲ちたまへり | God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. |
| 12 | 我は安穩なる身なりしに彼いたく我を打惱まし 頸を執へて我をうちくだき遂に我を立て鵠となしたまひ | I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. |
| 13 | その射手われを遶り圍めり やがて情もなく我腰を射透し わが膽を地に流れ出しめたまふ | His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. |
| 14 | 彼はわれを打敗りて破壞に破壞を加へ 勇士のごとく我に奔かかりたまふ | He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant. |
| 15 | われ麻布をわが肌に縫つけ我角を塵にて汚せり | I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust. |
| 16 | 我面は泣て頳くなり 我目縁には死の蔭あり | My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death; |
| 17 | 然れども我手には不義あること無く わが祈祷は清し | Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure. |
| 18 | 地よ我血を掩ふなかれ 我號呼は休む處を得ざれ | O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place. |
| 19 | 視よ今にても我證となる者天にあり わが眞實を表明す者高き處にあり | Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high. |
| 20 | わが朋友は我を嘲けれども我目は神にむかひて涙を注ぐ | My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God. |
| 21 | 願くは彼人のために神と論辨し 人の子のためにこれが朋友と論辨せんことを | O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour! |
| 22 | 數年すぎさらば我は還らぬ旅路に往べし | When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return. |
