| 1 | わが氣息は已にくさり 我日すでに盡なんとし墳墓われを待つ | My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me. |
| 2 | まことに嘲弄者等わが傍に在り 我目は彼らの辨爭ふを常に見ざるを得ず | Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation? |
| 3 | 願くは質を賜ふて汝みづから我の保證となりたまへ 誰か他にわが手をうつ者あらんや | Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me? |
| 4 | 汝彼らの心を閉て悟るところ無らしめたまへり 必ず彼らをして愈らしめたまはじ | For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them. |
| 5 | 朋友を交付して掠奪に遭しむる者は其子等の目潰るべし | He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail. |
| 6 | 彼われを世の民の笑柄とならしめたまふ 我は面に唾せらるべき者となれり | He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret. |
| 7 | かつまた我目は憂愁によりて昏み 肢體は凡て影のごとし | Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow. |
| 8 | 義しき者は之に驚き 無辜者は邪曲なる者を見て憤ほる | Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite. |
| 9 | 然ながら義しき者はその道を堅く持ち 手の潔淨き者はますます力を得るなり | The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger. |
| 10 | 請ふ汝ら皆ふたたび來れ 我は汝らの中に一人も智き者あるを見ざるなり | But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you. |
| 11 | わが日は已に過ぎ わが計る所わが心に冀ふ所は已に敗れたり | My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart. |
| 12 | 彼ら夜を晝に變ふ 黑暗の前に光明ちかづく | They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness. |
| 13 | 我もし俟つところ有ば是わが家たるべき陰府なるのみ 我は黑暗にわが牀を展ぶ | If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness. |
| 14 | われ朽腐に向ひては汝はわが父なりと言ひ 蛆に向ひては汝は我母わが姉妹なりと言ふ | I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister. |
| 15 | 然ばわが望はいづくにかある 我望は誰かこれを見る者あらん | And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it? |
| 16 | 是は下りて陰府の關に到らん 之と齊しく我身は塵の中に臥靜まるべし | They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust. |
