A Prayer of Praise
The Lord is my light and my salvation; I will fear no one. The Lord protects me from all danger; I will never be afraid.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When evil people attack me and try to kill me, they stumble and fall. When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
Even if a whole army surrounds me, I will not be afraid; even if enemies attack me, I will still trust God. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
I have asked the Lord for one thing; one thing only do I want: to live in the Lord's house all my life, to marvel there at his goodness, and to ask for his guidance. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
In times of trouble he will shelter me; he will keep me safe in his Temple and make me secure on a high rock. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
So I will triumph over my enemies around me. With shouts of joy I will offer sacrifices in his Temple; I will sing, I will praise the Lord. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
Hear me, Lord, when I call to you! Be merciful and answer me! Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When you said, “Come worship me,” I answered, “I will come, Lord.” When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
Don't hide yourself from me! Don't be angry with me; don't turn your servant away. You have been my help; don't leave me, don't abandon me, O God, my savior. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
My father and mother may abandon me, but the Lord will take care of me. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
Teach me, Lord, what you want me to do, and lead me along a safe path, because I have many enemies. Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Don't abandon me to my enemies, who attack me with lies and threats. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
I know that I will live to see the Lord's goodness in this present life. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Trust in the Lord. Have faith, do not despair. Trust in the Lord. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
