|---|---|---|
Davidin kultainen kappale, edelläveisaajalle, ettei hän hukkunut. (H58:2) Oletteko te juuri niin mykät, ettette puhu sitä mikä oikeus on, ettekä tuomitse, mikä kohtuus on, te ihmisten lapset? | Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
Sydämestänne te myös vääryyttä teette, ja maakunnassa käsillänne väkivaltaa toimitatte. | Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
Jumalattomat ovat kääntyneet pois jo äitinsä kohdusta, valhetteliat ovat eksyneet hamasta äitinsä kohdusta. | The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
Heidän kiukkunsa on niinkuin kärmeen kiukku, niinkuin kuuron kyykärmeen, joka korvansa tukitsee, | Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
Ettei hän kuulisi lumojain ääntä, sen joka viisaasti lumota taitaa. | Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.
Jumala, särje heidän hampaansa heidän suuhunsa: murenna, Herra, nuorten jalopeurain syömähampaat. | Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord.
Heidän pitää sulaman niinkuin vesi: he ampuvat nuolillansa, mutta ne käyvät rikki. | Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.
He hukkuvat, niinkuin näkin kota raukee, niinkuin vaimon keskeneräinen, eikä saa nähdä aurinkoa. | As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
Ennenkuin teidän orjantappuranne puuksi kasvavat, niin pitää vihan heitä elävänä repäisemän pois. | Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.
Vanhurskaan pitää iloitseman, koska hän koston näkee, ja pesemän jalkansa jumalattoman veressä, | The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
Että jokaisen pitää sanoman: vanhurskaalla on kuitenkin hedelmä; Jumala on kuitenkin se, joka tuomitsee maan päällä. | So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
