| 1 | 以色列 年幼 的時候，我愛他，就從埃及 召出 我的兒子來。 | When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. |
| 2 | 先知越發招呼 他們，他們越發 走開，向諸巴力 獻祭，給雕刻的偶像 燒香。 | As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images. |
| 3 | 我 原教導 以法蓮 行走，用 膀臂 抱著他們，他們卻不 知道 是我醫治他們。 | I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them. |
| 4 | 我用慈繩（慈：原文是人的）愛 索 牽引他們；我 待他們 如人放鬆 牛的兩腮 夾板，把糧食 放 在他們面前。 | I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them. |
| 5 | 他們必不 歸 回 埃及 地，亞述人 卻要作 他們的王，因 他們不肯 歸向我。 | He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return. |
| 6 | 刀劍 必臨到 他們的城邑，毀壞 門閂，把人吞滅，都因他們隨從自己的計謀。 | And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels. |
| 7 | 我的民 偏 要背道離開我；眾先知雖然招呼他們 歸向 至上的主，卻 無人 尊崇主。 | And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him. |
| 8 | 以法蓮哪，我怎能 捨棄你？以色列啊，我怎能棄絕你？我怎能 使你 如押瑪？怎能使你 如洗扁？我回 心 轉意，我的憐愛 大大 發動。 | How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together. |
| 9 | 我必不 發 猛烈 的怒氣，也不 再 毀滅 以法蓮。因 我是 神，並非 世人，是你們中間 的聖者；我必不 在怒中 臨到你們。 | I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city. |
