1 神 對 雅各 說：「起來！上 伯特利去，住 在那裡；要在那裡 築 一座壇給 神，就是你逃避 你哥哥 以掃 的時候向你 顯現的那位。」 And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth–el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
2 雅各 就對 他家中的人 並 一切 與他同在 的人 說：「你們要除掉 你們中間 的 外邦 神，也要自潔，更換 衣裳。 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
3 我們要起來，上 伯特利去，在那裡 我要築 一座壇給 神，就是在我遭難 的日子 應允 我的禱告、在我行 的 路上 保佑我的那位。」 And let us arise, and go up to Beth–el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
4 他們就把 外邦人 的神像 和 他們耳朵上 的 環子 交 給 雅各；雅各 都藏 在 示劍 那裡 的橡樹 底下。 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
5 他們便起行前往。 神 使 那 周圍 城邑 的人都甚 驚懼，就不 追趕 雅各 的眾子了。 And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
6 於是雅各 和一切 與他 同在的人 到 了迦南 地 的 路斯，就是 伯特利。 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Beth–el, he and all the people that were with him.
7 他在那裡 築了 一座壇，就給那地方 起名叫伊勒‧伯特利（就是伯特利之 神的意思）；因為 他逃避 他哥哥的時候， 神 在那裡 向他 顯現。 And he built there an altar, and called the place El–beth–el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
8 利百加 的奶母 底波拉 死了，就葬 在伯特利 下邊 橡樹 底下；那棵樹名 叫亞倫‧巴古。 But Deborah Rebekah’s nurse died, and she was buried beneath Beth–el under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon–bachuth.
9 雅各從巴旦‧亞蘭 回來， 神 又 向 他顯現，賜福 與他， And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan–aram, and blessed him.
10 且對他 說：「你的名 原是雅各，從今以後 不要 再 叫 雅各， 要 叫 以色列。」這樣，他就改 名 叫 以色列。 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
11 神 又對他 說：「我是 全能的 神；你要生養 眾多，將來有一族 和多國 的民 從你 而生，又有君王從你 而出。 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;
12 我所 賜 給亞伯拉罕 和以撒 的 地，我要賜 給你 與你的後裔。」 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
13 神 就從 那 與雅各 說話 的地方 升上去了。 And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.
14 雅各 便在那裡 立了 一根石 柱，在柱子 上 奠 酒，澆 油。 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.
15 雅各 就給那 地方起 名 叫 伯特利。 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Beth–el.
16 他們從伯特利 起行，離 以法他 還 有 一段 路程，拉結 臨產 甚是艱難。 And they journeyed from Beth–el; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
17 正在 艱難的時候，收生婆 對她 說：「不要 怕， 你 又要 得一個 兒子了。」 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.
18 她將近於 死，靈魂 要走的時候，就給她兒子起名 叫便‧俄尼；他父親 卻給他 起名叫 便雅憫。 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben–oni: but his father called him Benjamin.
19 拉結 死了，葬 在以法他 的路旁；以法他就是 伯利恆。 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Beth–lehem.
20 雅各 在 她的墳 上 立了 一統碑，就是 拉結 的墓 碑，到 今日還在。 And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel’s grave unto this day.
21 以色列 起行前往，在 以得 臺 那邊支搭 帳棚。 And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.
22 以色列 住 在那 地的時候，流便 去 與 他父親 的妾 辟拉 同寢，以色列 也聽見了。雅各 共有 十 二 個兒子。 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
23 利亞 所生的 是雅各 的長子 流便，還有西緬、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫。 The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
24 拉結 所生的 是約瑟、便雅憫。 The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:
25 拉結 的使女 辟拉 所生的 是但、拿弗他利。 And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:
26 利亞 的使女 悉帕 所生的 是迦得、亞設。這是 雅各在巴旦‧亞蘭 所 生 的 兒子。 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padan–aram.
27 雅各 來 到 他父親 以撒那裡，到了基列‧亞巴 的幔利，乃是 亞伯拉罕 和以撒 寄居 的地方；基列‧亞巴就是 希伯崙。 And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
28 以撒 共活了 一百 八十 歲。 And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years.
29 以撒 年紀老邁，日子 滿足，氣絕 而死，歸 到他列祖（原文是本民）那裡。他兩個兒子 以掃、雅各 把他 埋葬了。 And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
