1 猶大 王 約西亞 的兒子 約雅敬 第四 年， 耶和華 的 話 臨 到 耶利米 說： And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 「你 取 一書 卷，將 我對你 說 攻擊 以色列 和 猶大，並 各 國 的 一切 話，從我對你 說話 的那日，就是從約西亞 的日子 起直到 今 日，都寫 在其上。 Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
3 或者 猶大 家 聽見 我 想要 降 與他們 的 一切 災禍，各人 就 回頭，離開惡 道，我好赦免 他們的罪孽 和罪惡。」 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
4 所以，耶利米 召了 尼利亞 的兒子 巴錄來；巴錄 就從耶利米 口中，將 耶和華 對 耶利米所 說 的一切 話 寫 在 書 卷上。 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.
5 耶利米 吩咐 巴錄 說：「我 被拘管，不 能 進 耶和華 的殿。 And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of the Lord:
6 所以你 要去 趁禁食 的日子，在耶和華 殿中 將 耶和華 的話，就是 你從我口中 所寫 在書卷上的話，念 給百姓 和 一切 從猶大 城邑 出來 的人聽。 Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the Lord in the ears of the people in the Lord’s house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
7 或者 他們 在耶和華 面前 懇求 各人 回頭，離開惡 道，因為 耶和華 向 這 百姓 所 說 要發的怒氣 和忿怒 是大的。」 It may be they will present their supplication before the Lord, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the Lord hath pronounced against this people.
8 尼利亞 的兒子 巴錄 就照先知 耶利米 一切 所 吩咐的 去行，在耶和華 的殿 中從書上 念 耶和華 的話。 And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the Lord in the Lord’s house.
9 猶大 王 約西亞 的兒子 約雅敬 第五 年 九 月，耶路撒冷 的眾 民 和那從猶大 城邑 來 到耶路撒冷 的眾 民，在耶和華 面前 宣告 禁食的日子， And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
10 巴錄 就在耶和華 殿 的上 院，耶和華 殿 的新 門 口，沙番 的兒子 文士 基瑪利雅 的屋內，念 書上 耶利米 的 話 給眾 民 聽。 Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the Lord, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the Lord’s house, in the ears of all the people.
11 沙番 的孫子、基瑪利雅 的兒子 米該亞 聽見 書 上耶和華 的 一切 話， When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the Lord,
12 他就下 到王 宮，進入 文士 的屋子。 眾 首領，就是文士 以利沙瑪、示瑪雅 的兒子 第萊雅、亞革波 的兒子 以利拿單、沙番 的兒子 基瑪利雅、哈拿尼雅 的兒子 西底家，和其餘的 首領 都坐 在那裡。 Then he went down into the king’s house, into the scribe’s chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
13 於是米該亞 對他們 述說 他所 聽見 的一切 話，就是巴錄 向百姓 念 那書 的時候所聽見的。 Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
14 眾 首領 就打發 古示 的曾孫、示利米雅 的孫子、尼探雅 的兒子 猶底 到 巴錄那裡，對他說：「你將所 念 給百姓 聽 的書卷 拿 在手中 到我們這裡來。」尼利亞 的兒子 巴錄 就手 拿 書卷 來 到他們那裡。 Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
15 他們對他 說：「請 你坐下，念 給我們聽。」巴錄 就念 給他們聽。 And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.
16 他們聽見 這一切 話 就害怕，面 面 相觀，對 巴錄 說：「我們必須 將 這 一切 話 告訴 王。」 Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.
17 他們問 巴錄 說：「請 你告訴 我們，你怎樣 從他口中 寫 這 一切 話呢？」 And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?
18 巴錄回答 說：「他用口 向我 說 這 一切 話，我 就用筆墨 寫 在 書上。」 Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.
19 眾首領 對 巴錄 說：「你 和耶利米 要去 藏起來，不可 叫人 知道 你們 在哪裡。」 Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.
20 眾首領進 院 見 王，卻先把 書卷 存 在文士 以利沙瑪 的屋內，以後將 這一切 話 說 給王 聽。 And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.
21 王 就打發 猶底 去拿 這書卷來，他便從文士 以利沙瑪 的屋內 取來， 念 給王 和王 左右 侍立 的眾 首領 聽。 So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.
22 那時正是九 月，王 坐 在過冬 的房屋裡，王的前面 火盆 中有燒著的火。 Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.
23 猶底 念了 三 四 篇（或譯：行），王就用文士 的刀 將書卷割破，扔 在 火 盆中，直到 全 卷 在 火 中燒盡了。 And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.
24 王 和聽見 這 一切 話的 臣僕 都不 懼怕，也不 撕裂 衣服。 Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
25 以利拿單 和第萊雅，並基瑪利雅 懇求 王 不要 燒 這書卷，他卻不 聽。 Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.
26 王 就吩咐 哈米勒 的兒子（或譯：王的兒子）耶拉篾 和 亞斯列 的兒子 西萊雅，並 亞伯疊 的兒子 示利米雅，去捉拿 文士 巴錄 和 先知 耶利米。耶和華 卻將他們隱藏。 But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the Lord hid them.
27 王 燒了 書卷（其上 有巴錄 從耶利米 口中 所 寫的 話）以後，耶和華 的話 臨 到 耶利米 說： Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28 「你 再 取 一 卷，將 猶大 王 約雅敬 所 燒 第一 卷 上的一切 話 寫 在其上。 Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.
29 論到 猶大 王 約雅敬 你要說，耶和華 如此 說：你 燒了 書卷，說：『你為甚麼 在其上 寫著，說 巴比倫 王 必 要來 毀滅 這 地，使這地上 絕了 人民 牲畜呢？』 And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the Lord; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
30 所以 耶和華 論到 猶大 王 約雅敬 說：他 後裔中必 沒有 人坐 在 大衛 的寶座上；他的屍首 必被拋棄，白日 受炎熱，黑夜 受寒霜。 Therefore thus saith the Lord of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
31 我必因他 和 他後裔，並 他臣僕 的 罪孽 刑罰他們。我要使 我所 說 的一切 災禍 臨 到他們 和 耶路撒冷 的居民，並 猶大 人；只是他們不 聽。」 And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.
32 於是，耶利米 又取 一 書卷 交 給 尼利亞 的兒子 文士 巴錄，他就從耶利米 的口中 寫了 猶大 王 約雅敬 所 燒 前卷上 的一切 話，另外 又添了 許多 相彷的 話。 Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.
