| 6 | 「耶和華─我們的 神 在何烈山 曉諭 我們 說：你們 在這 山 上住 的日子夠了； | The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount: |
| 7 | 要起行 轉 到 亞摩利人 的山地 和 靠近 這山地的各處，就是亞拉巴、山地、高原、南地，沿海 一帶 迦南人 的地，並黎巴嫩山 又到 幼發拉底 大 河。 | Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates. |
| 8 | 如今 我將 這地 擺 在你們面前；你們要進去 得 這地，就是 耶和華 向你們列祖 亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各 起誓 應許賜 給他們 和他們 後裔為業之地。」 | Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them. |
| 9 | 「那 時，我 對你們 說：『管理你們的重任，我獨自 擔當 不 起。 | And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone: |
| 10 | 耶和華─你們的 神 使你們 多起來。看哪，你們今日 像天上 的星 那樣多。 | The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude. |
| 11 | 惟願耶和華─你們列祖的 神 使你們 比如今 更多 千 倍，照他所 應許 你們 的話賜福 與你們。 | (The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!) |
| 12 | 但你們的麻煩，和管理你們的重任，並你們的爭訟，我獨自一人 怎能 擔當得起呢？ | How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife? |
| 13 | 你們要按著各支派 選舉 有智慧、有見識、為眾人所認識 的，我立他們 為你們的首領。』 | Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you. |
| 14 | 你們回答 我 說：『照你所 說 的 行了 為妙。』 | And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do. |
| 15 | 我便 將 你們各支派 的首領，有智慧、為眾人所認識 的，照你們的支派，立 他們 為官長、千 夫長、百 夫長、五十 夫長、十 夫長，管理 你們。 | So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes. |
| 16 | 「當 時，我囑咐 你們的審判官 說：『你們聽訟，無論是 弟兄 彼此爭訟，是與 同居的外人爭訟，都要按公義 判斷。 | And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him. |
| 17 | 審判的時候，不可 看 人的外貌；聽 訟不可分貴 賤，不可 懼怕 人，因為 審判 是屬乎 神的。若有難斷 的 案件，可以呈 到我這裡，我就判斷。』 | Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it. |
| 18 | 那 時，我將 你們所 當行 的事 都 吩咐 你們了。」 | And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do. |
| 19 | 「我們照著 耶和華─我們 神 所吩咐的 從何烈山 起行，經過 你們所 看見 那 大 而可怕 的曠野，往 亞摩利人 的山地 去，到了加低斯‧巴尼亞。 | And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the Lord our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh–barnea. |
| 20 | 我對你們 說：『你們已經到 了 耶和華─我們 神 所 賜 給我們 的亞摩利人 之山地。 | And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the Lord our God doth give unto us. |
| 21 | 看哪，耶和華─你的 神 已將 那地 擺 在你面前，你要照 耶和華─你列祖的 神 所說的 上去 得那地為業；不要 懼怕，也不要 驚惶。』 | Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged. |
| 22 | 你們都 就近我 來 說：『我們要先 打發 人去，為我們 窺探 那地，將我們上去該 走 何 道，必 進 何 城，都回 報 我們。』 | And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come. |
| 23 | 這話 我 以為美，就從你們中間 選了 十二個 人，每支派 一 人。 | And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe: |
| 24 | 於是他們起身 上 山地去，到 以實各 谷，窺探 那地。 | And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out. |
| 25 | 他們手裡 拿著 那地 的果子 下來，到我們那裡，回 報 說：『耶和華─我們的 神 所 賜 給我們的 是美 地。』 | And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the Lord our God doth give us. |
| 26 | 「你們卻不 肯 上去，竟違背了 耶和華─你們 神 的命令， | Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God: |
| 27 | 在帳棚內 發怨言 說：『耶和華 因為恨 我們，所以將我們從埃及 地 領出來，要交 在亞摩利人 手中，除滅我們。 | And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the Lord hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. |
| 28 | 我們 上 哪裡去呢？我們的弟兄 使 我們的心 消化，說 那地的民 比我們 又大 又高，城邑 又廣大 又堅固，高得頂天，並且 我們在那裡 看見 亞衲族 的人。』 | Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there. |
| 29 | 我就對你們 說：『不要 驚恐，也不要 怕 他們。 | Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. |
| 30 | 在你們前面 行的 耶和華─你們的 神必 為你們 爭戰，正如 他在埃及和曠野，在你們眼前 所 行的一樣。 | The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; |
| 31 | 你們在曠野 所 行的 路上， 也曾見 耶和華─你們的 神 撫養你們，如同 人 撫養 兒子一般，直等 你們來 到 這 地方。』 | And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place. |
| 32 | 你們在這 事上 卻不 信 耶和華─你們的 神。 | Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God, |
| 33 | 他在路上，在你們前面 行，為你們 找 安營 的地方；夜間 在火柱裡，日間 在雲柱裡，指示你們 所 當行 的路。」 | Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day. |
| 34 | 「耶和華 聽見 你們 這話，就發怒，起誓 說： | And the Lord heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying, |
| 35 | 『這 惡 世代的 人，連一個 也不 得見 我起誓應許 賜 給你們列祖的 美 地； | Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers, |
| 36 | 惟有 耶孚尼 的兒子 迦勒必 得看見，並且我要將他所 踏過的 地 賜 給他 和他的子孫，因為 他專心 跟從 我。』 | Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the Lord. |
| 37 | 耶和華 為你們的緣故 也 向我 發怒，說：『你 必 不得 進入 那地。 | Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither. |
| 38 | 伺候 你、嫩 的兒子 約書亞，他 必得進入 那地；你要勉勵 他，因為 他 要使 以色列人 承受那地為業。 | But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. |
| 39 | 並且你們的婦人孩子，就是 你們所說、必 被擄掠的， 和今日 不 知 善 惡 的兒女，必 進入 那地。我要將那地賜 給他們，他們 必得為業。 | Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it. |
| 40 | 至於你們，要轉回，從紅 海 的路 往曠野 去。』 | But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea. |
| 41 | 「那時，你們回答 我 說：『我們得罪了 耶和華， 情願照耶和華─我們 神 一切 所 吩咐的 上去 爭戰。』於是你們各人 帶著 兵 器，爭先 上 山地去了。 | Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord, we will go up and fight, according to all that the Lord our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill. |
| 42 | 耶和華 吩咐我 說：『你對他們 說：不要 上去，也不要 爭戰；因 我不 在你們中間，恐怕你們被 仇敵 殺敗了。』 | And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. |
| 43 | 我就告訴了 你們，你們卻不 聽從，竟違背 耶和華 的命令，擅自 上 山地 去了。 | So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill. |
| 44 | 住 那 山地 的亞摩利人 就出來 攻擊你們，追趕 你們，如 蜂 擁一般，在西珥 殺退 你們，直到 何珥瑪。 | And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah. |
| 45 | 你們便回來，在耶和華 面前 哭號；耶和華 卻不 聽 你們的聲音，也不 向你們 側耳。 | And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you. |
| 46 | 於是你們在加低斯 住了 許多 日子。」 | So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there. |
