| 2 | 「 天 國 近了，你們應當悔改！」 | And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. |
| 3 | 這人 就是 先知 以賽亞 所 說的。他說：「在 曠野 有人聲 喊著說：預備 主的 道，修 直 他的 路！」 | For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. |
| 4 | 這 約翰 身 穿 駱駝 毛 的 衣服， 腰 束 皮 帶， 吃的 是 蝗蟲、 野 蜜。 | And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. |

| 9 | 不要 自己 心 裡 說：『有 亞伯拉罕 為我們的祖宗。』 我告訴 你們， 神 能 從 這些 石頭 中給亞伯拉罕 興起 子孫來。 | And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. |

| 11 | 我 是 用 水 給你們 施洗，叫 你們悔改。但 那 在我 以後 來的， 能力比我 更大，我就是 給他 提 鞋 也不 配。他 要用 聖 靈 與 火 給你們 施洗。 | I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: |
| 12 | 他 手 裡 拿著 簸箕，要 揚淨 他的 場， 把 麥子 收 在 倉裡， 把糠 用不滅的 火 燒盡了。」 | Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. |

| 15 | 耶穌 回答 說：「你暫且 許我，因為 我們 理 當 這樣 盡 諸般的 義（或譯：禮）。」於是 約翰許了 他。 | And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. |
