| 2 | 約翰 在 監 裡聽見 基督 所做的事，就打發 兩個 門徒去， | Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, |
| 3 | 問他 說：「那將要來 的是 你嗎？還是 我們等候 別人呢？」 | And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? |
| 4 | 耶穌 回答 說：「你們去，把所 聽見、 所看見 的事告訴 約翰。 | Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: |
| 5 | 就是瞎子 看見， 瘸子 行走，長大痲瘋的 潔淨， 聾子 聽見， 死人 復活， 窮人 有福音傳給他們。 | The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. |

| 9 | 你們出去 究竟 是為甚麼？是要看 先知嗎？我告訴 你們，是的， 他比先知 大多了。 | But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. |
| 10 | 經 上 記著說：『 我 要差遣 我的 使者 在你 前 面 預備 道路』，所說的就是 這個人。 | For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. |
| 11 | 我實在 告訴 你們，凡婦人 所生的，沒有 一個興起來 大過 施洗 約翰的；然而 天 國 裡 最小的 比他 還大。 | Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. |

| 16 | 我可用甚麼 比 這 世代呢？ 好像 孩童 坐 在 街市 上 招呼 同伴，說： | But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, |
| 17 | 我們向你們 吹笛， 你們不 跳舞；我們向你們舉哀， 你們不 捶胸。 | And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. |
| 18 | 約翰 來了，也不 吃 也不 喝，人就 說 他是被鬼 附著的； | For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. |
| 19 | 人 子 來了，也吃 也 喝，人又 說 他是貪食 好酒 的人，是稅吏 和 罪人 的朋友。但 智慧 之子總以 智慧 為是（有古卷：但智慧在行為上就顯為是）。」 | The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children. |
| 20 | 耶穌在 諸城 中行了 許多 異能， 那些城的人終不 悔改，就 在那時候 責備 他們，說： | Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: |
| 21 | 「哥拉汛哪，你 有禍了！伯賽大啊，你 有禍了！因為 在 你們 中間所 行 的異能，若 行 在 泰爾、 西頓，他們早已 披 麻 蒙灰 悔改了。 | Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. |
| 22 | 但 我告訴 你們，當 審判 的日子，泰爾、 西頓所受的， 比 你們 還容易受呢！ | But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. |
| 23 | 迦百農啊， 你 已經升 到 天上（或譯：你將要升到天上嗎），將來必墜落 陰間；因為 在 你 那裡所行 的 異能，若 行 在 所多瑪，它還可以 存 到 今日。 | And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. |
| 24 | 但 我告訴 你們， 當 審判 的日子， 所多瑪所受的， 比 你 還容易受呢！」 | But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. |
| 25 | 那 時，耶穌 說：「父啊，天 地 的主，我感謝 你！因為 你將這些事 向 聰明 通達 人就藏起來，向嬰孩 就 顯出來。 | At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. |
| 26 | 父啊，是的，因為 你的 美意 本是 如此。 | Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. |
| 27 | 一切所有的，都是 我 父 交付 我的； 除了 父，沒有人 知道 子；除了 子 和 子 所願意 指示 的，沒有 人 知道 父。 | All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. |
| 28 | 凡 勞苦 擔重擔的 人可以到 我 這裡來，我 就使你們 得安息。 | Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. |
| 29 | 我 心 裡柔和 謙卑，你們 當負 我的 軛， 學 我 的樣式；這樣，你們 心裡 就必得享 安息。 | Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. |
| 30 | 因為 我的 軛 是容易的， 我的 擔子 是 輕省的。」 | For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. |
