| 2 | 這是因為 說謊 之人的假冒；這等人 的良心 如同被熱鐵烙慣了一般。 | Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; |
| 3 | 他們禁止 嫁娶，又禁戒食物（或譯：又叫人戒葷），就是 神 所造、叫 那信 而 明白 真道 的人感謝 著 領受的。 | Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. |
| 4 | 凡 神 所造的物 都是好的，若感謝 著 領受，就 沒有一樣 可棄的， | For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: |

| 6 | 你若將這些事 提醒 弟兄們，便是 基督 耶穌 的好 執事，在真道 的話語 和 你向來所服從 的 善 道 上得了教育。 | If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. |
| 7 | 只是 要棄絕 那世俗的 言語和 老婦 荒渺的話， 在敬虔 上 操練 自己。 | But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. |
| 8 | 「操練 身體，益處 還少；惟獨 敬虔， 凡事 都有 益處，因有 今 生 和 來生 的應許。」 | For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. |
| 9 | 這話 是可信的， 是十分 可佩服的。 | This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. |
| 10 | 我們勞苦 努力，正是為 此，因 我們的指望 在乎 永生的 神；他 是 萬 人 的救主，更是 信徒的救主。 | For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. |
| 11 | 這些事，你要吩咐人，也要 教導人。 | These things command and teach. |
| 12 | 不可叫人 小看 你 年輕，總要 在 言語、 行為、 愛心、 信心、 清潔上，都作 信徒 的榜樣。 | Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. |
| 13 | 你要以宣讀、勸勉、教導 為念，直等到 我來。 | Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. |
| 14 | 你 不要 輕忽 所得的 恩賜，就是 從前藉著 預言、在眾長老 按 手 的時候 賜給 你的。 | Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. |
| 15 | 這些事 你要殷勤去做，並要在 此 專心，使 眾人 看出 你的 長進來。 | Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. |
| 16 | 你要謹慎 自己 和 自己的教訓，要在這些事上 恆心；因為 這樣 行，又能 救 自己，又能 救聽 你的人。 | Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. |
