1 不可 嚴責 老年人，只要 勸 他如同 父親；勸少年人 如同 弟兄； Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
2 勸老年婦女 如同 母親；勸少年婦女 如同 姊妹； 總要 清清潔潔的。 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
3 要尊敬 那真為 寡婦的。 Honour widows that are widows indeed.
4 若 寡婦 有 兒女，或有 孫子孫女，便叫他們先 在自己 家中 學著 行孝， 報答 親恩，因為 這在 神 面前 是 可悅納的。 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
5 那 獨居無靠、真為 寡婦的，是仰賴 神， 晝 夜 不住地 祈求 禱告。 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 但 那好宴樂 的寡婦正活著 的時候也是死的。 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7 這些事 你要囑咐她們，叫 她們 無可指責。 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 人 若 不 看顧 親屬，就是背了 真道， 比不信的人 還不好，不看顧自己家裡的人， 更是如此。 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
9 寡婦 記在冊子上，必須年紀到 六十 歲，從來只作 一個 丈夫 的妻子， Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,
10 又有 行 善 的名聲，就如 養育兒女， 接待遠人， 洗 聖徒的 腳， 救濟 遭難的人， 竭力行 各樣 善 事。 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
11 至於 年輕的 寡婦，就可以辭她；因為 她們的情慾發動，違背基督 的時候 就想要 嫁人。 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12 她們被 定罪，是因 廢棄了 當初 所許的願； Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
13 並且 她們又習慣 懶惰，挨家 閒遊； 不 但 是懶惰，又 說長道短， 好管閒事，說 些 不 當說的話。 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
14 所以 我願意 年輕的 寡婦嫁人，生養兒女，治理家務，不 給 敵人 辱罵 的把柄。 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
15 因為 已經 有 轉去 隨從 撒但的。 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 信主的婦女，若家中有 寡婦，自己就當救濟 她們， 不可 累著 教會，好使 教會能救濟 那真 無倚靠的寡婦。 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
17 那善於 管理 教會的長老，當以為配受 加倍的 敬奉；那勞苦 傳道 教導人的，更當如此。 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 因為 經上 說：「牛 在場上踹穀的時候，不可 籠住牠的嘴」；又說：「工人 得 工價 是應當的。」 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
19 控告 長老 的呈子，非有 兩 三 個見證 就不要 收。 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
20 犯罪的人，當在眾人 面前 責備他，叫 其餘的 人也 可以 懼怕。 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21 我在 神 和 基督 耶穌 並 蒙揀選的 天使 面前 囑咐你： 要遵守 這些話，不可 存成見，行事 也不可 有 偏心。 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
22 給人行按 手的禮，不可 急促；不要 在別人的 罪 上有分，要保守 自己 清潔。 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.
23 因 你胃口不清， 屢次 患病，再不要照常 喝水， 可以稍微 用 點酒。 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
24 有些 人 的罪 是 明顯的，如同先 到 審判案前； 有些人 的罪是隨後跟了去的。 Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
25 這樣，善 行 也 有明顯的， 那 不明顯的 也不 能 隱藏。 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
