| 1 | 以色列人歟、其聽耶和華言、耶和華與斯土居民爭辯、因其境內無誠實、無仁慈、無識上帝之知識、 | Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. |
| 2 | 惟妄誓、失信、殺戮、偷盜、姦淫、殘暴是行、疊流人血、 | By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. |
| 3 | 故斯士愁慘、居民野獸、飛鳥衰殘、海魚被取、 | Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. |
| 4 | 但人勿相爭、勿相責、蓋爾民如與祭司爭者然、 | Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. |
| 5 | 爾必躓於晝、先知偕爾躓於夜、我將滅絕爾母、 | Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother. |
| 6 | 我民緣無知而見滅、爾棄知識、我亦棄爾、不容爲我祭司、爾忘爾上帝法律、我亦忘爾子、 | My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. |
| 7 | 彼愈繁衍、愈獲罪於我、我將變其榮爲辱、 | As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. |
| 8 | 彼食我民贖罪之祭、志於民之愆尤、 | They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. |
| 9 | 民如何、祭司亦將如何、我必因其所行而罰之、依其所爲以報之、 | And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. |
| 10 | 彼將食而不飽、淫而不育、因其棄耶和華、而不從之、 | For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord. |
| 11 | 淫行陳酒新釀、乃奪人心、 | Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. |
| 12 | 我民諮詢於木、藉杖示之、彼爲淫心所迷、狥欲離其上帝之制、 | My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God. |
| 13 | 獻祭於山巔、焚香於岡巒、在橡楊栗之下、緣其蔭美、故爾女行姦、爾媳宣淫、 | They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery. |
| 14 | 爾女行姦、爾媳宣淫、我不罰之、緣爾轉就妓女、而偕淫婦獻祭、無知之民、必致傾覆、 | I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall. |
| 15 | 以色列歟、爾雖行淫、猶大不可干罪、勿至吉甲、勿往伯亞文、勿指維生之耶和華而誓、 | Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth–aven, nor swear, The Lord liveth. |
| 16 | 蓋以色列倔強、若桀驁之牝犢、今耶和華豈牧之、如牧羔羊於廣處乎、 | For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the Lord will feed them as a lamb in a large place. |
| 17 | 以法蓮好合偶像、可姑聽之、 | Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone. |
| 18 | 彼縱飲旣畢、則行淫不已、牧伯悅乎恥辱、 | Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye. |
| 19 | 風翼捲之、彼因所獻之祭、必蒙羞恥、 | The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices. |
