| 1 | 以色列爲茂盛之葡萄樹、結實纍纍、其實愈繁、築壇愈多、其地愈美、建柱愈佳、 | Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images. |
| 2 | 彼貳其心、今定其罪、上帝必擊其壇、毀其柱、 | Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images. |
| 3 | 彼曰、我儕無王、不寅畏耶和華、夫王於我何爲哉、 | For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the Lord; what then should a king do to us? |
| 4 | 彼出虛言、假誓立約、故災罰滋生、若毒草之於隴畝、 | They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field. |
| 5 | 撒瑪利亞居民、將因伯亞文之犢而驚惶、庶民爲之悲哀、素悅斯犢之祭司戰慄、以其榮去之也、 | The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Beth–aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it. |
| 6 | 其犢必舁至亞述、餽與耶雷布王、以法蓮將蒙羞、以色列必因己謀而抱愧、 | It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel. |
| 7 | 撒瑪利亞被滅、其王若水面之片木、 | As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water. |
| 8 | 亞文之崇邱、乃以色列之罪、將見毀滅、荊棘蒺藜生於其壇、彼將謂山曰覆我、謂陵曰傾於我上、 | The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us. |
| 9 | 以色列歟、爾之干罪、較在基比亞時爲尤甚、彼衆立於基比亞、以免攻不義者之戰及之、 | O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them. |
| 10 | 我欲加譴之日、必懲罰之、彼爲二罪所繫、列邦將會集而攻之、 | It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows. |
| 11 | 以法蓮乃馴習之牝犢、喜於踏穀、昔我惜其項之美、今則使之曳耒耜、猶大耕之、雅各耙之、 | And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods. |
| 12 | 爾當以義播之、依仁穫之、尋求耶和華之時已屆、爾其開墾土壤、迨其臨蒞、雨爾以義、 | Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. |
| 13 | 惟爾耕種奸惡、而穫愆尤、食虛誕之果、蓋爾恃己之行、與勇士之衆、 | Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men. |
| 14 | 故爾民中、擾攘將起、保障見毀、如沙勒幔當戰鬬之日、毀伯亞比勒然、其時母子被擲而碎、 | Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth–arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children. |
| 15 | 爾曹遇此、乃伯特利所使、以爾罪重故也、以色列王、必於昧爽隕沒、 | So shall Beth–el do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off. |
