| 1 | 一日亭午、亞伯拉罕坐於幕門、近幔利之橡、耶和華顯見於彼、 | And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; |
| 2 | 亞伯拉罕舉目、見三人對之而立、乃自幕門趨迎、伏地、 | And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, |
| 3 | 曰、若蒙主恩、願勿離僕而去、 | And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: |
| 4 | 容取勺水、以濯爾足、且憩樹下、 | Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: |
| 5 | 旣至僕所、我將取餅少許、壯爾心力而後行、曰、可依汝言、 | And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. |
| 6 | 亞伯拉罕亟入幕、語撒拉曰、速備細麪三細亞、摶之作餅、 | And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. |
| 7 | 又趨至牛羣、擇犢之肥美者付僕、僕急治之、 | And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. |
| 8 | 亞伯拉罕遂以酥與乳、及所治之犢、臚陳其前、自侍樹下、三人食之、 | And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat. |
| 9 | 其人曰、爾妻撒拉何在、曰、在幕、 | And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. |
| 10 | 其中一人曰、明年屆期、我必復至、爾妻撒拉將生子、撒拉在其後、於幕門聞此、 | And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. |
| 11 | 亞伯拉罕與撒拉、皆壽高年邁、撒拉癸水已絕、 | Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. |
| 12 | 竊哂曰、我老矣、吾主亦然、庸有喜乎、 | Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? |
| 13 | 耶和華諭亞伯拉罕曰、撒拉何竊哂云、我已年老、詎生育乎、 | And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? |
| 14 | 耶和華豈有難行之事哉、屆期、我將復至、撒拉必生子、 | Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. |
| 15 | 撒拉懼而不承、曰、我未嘗哂也、曰、否、爾實哂、○ | Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh. |
| 16 | 三人乃起、觀望所多瑪、亞伯拉罕偕行以送之、 | And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. |
| 17 | 耶和華曰、我之所爲、豈隱於亞伯拉罕乎、 | And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; |
| 18 | 蓋彼必爲強大之族、天下萬民、因之獲福、 | Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? |
| 19 | 我簡之、使命其子及眷屬、守我之道、秉公行義、致耶和華所言、悉以予之、 | For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. |
| 20 | 又曰、所多瑪蛾摩拉罪孽深重、聲聞於我、 | And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; |
| 21 | 我必臨格、監其動作、實如所聞、設若不然、我必知之、○ | I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. |
| 22 | 二人往所多瑪、亞伯拉罕尚立於耶和華前、 | And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord. |
| 23 | 進曰、善者惡者、爾豈並滅之乎、 | And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? |
| 24 | 假令邑中有五十義人、亦必翦滅乎、不緣其五十義人、而悉赦宥乎、 | Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? |
| 25 | 善惡倂誅、臧否同待、此斷非爾所爲、鞫天下者、豈不行義乎、 | That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? |
| 26 | 耶和華曰、所多瑪邑、設有五十義人、我必緣此、赦其一方、 | And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. |
| 27 | 亞伯拉罕曰、我雖爲灰塵、敢告於主、 | And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: |
| 28 | 假令五十義者缺其五、豈因缺五人、而滅此一邑乎、曰、設有四十五人、則亦弗滅、 | Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. |
| 29 | 曰、設有四十人、則何如、曰、緣四十人、吾亦弗行是、 | And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty’s sake. |
| 30 | 曰、願主毋怒、容我言之、假令三十人、則何如、曰、有三十人、亦弗行是、 | And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. |
| 31 | 曰、敢告於主、假令二十人、則何如、曰、緣二十人、我亦不滅、 | And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake. |
| 32 | 曰、願主毋怒、容我言之、惟此一次、假令十人、則何如、曰、緣十人、吾亦弗滅、 | And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake. |
| 33 | 耶和華言竟而往、亞伯拉罕乃歸、 | And the Lord went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place. |
