| 1 | 嗣後耶和華於異象中、諭亞伯蘭曰、亞伯蘭歟、毋懼、我爲爾盾、大賚於爾、 | After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. |
| 2 | 亞伯蘭曰、主耶和華歟、何以賜我、蓋我無子、承我業者、大馬色人以利以謝也、 | And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? |
| 3 | 又曰、爾未賜我子、育於我家者、將爲我嗣、 | And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. |
| 4 | 耶和華諭之曰、此非爾嗣、必自爾出者、乃爲爾嗣、 | And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. |
| 5 | 遂攜之出、曰、仰觀於天、衆星可核數乎、又曰、汝苗裔必如是、 | And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. |
| 6 | 亞伯蘭信耶和華、耶和華以此爲其義、 | And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. |
| 7 | 又曰、我乃耶和華、昔挈爾出迦勒底之吾珥、將以此地、賜爾承之、 | And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. |
| 8 | 曰、主耶和華歟、我承此地、何以知之、 | And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? |
| 9 | 曰、爲我取三歲之牝牛、牝山羊、牡綿羊、及鳲鳩雛鴿各一、 | And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. |
| 10 | 遂取而中剖之、置之兩旁、使各相對、惟鳥不剖、 | And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. |
| 11 | 有鷙鳥下、集於牲牷、亞伯蘭驅之、 | And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. |
| 12 | 日將入、亞伯蘭酣睡、幽暗臨之、使之恐懼、 | And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. |
| 13 | 耶和華諭之曰、爾當實知、汝裔必旅於異邦、服役良苦、歷四百年、 | And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; |
| 14 | 其所服事之邦、我必鞫之、厥後汝裔、得其重貲以出、 | And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. |
| 15 | 爾必安然歸祖、考終而葬、 | And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. |
| 16 | 越至四世、爾之苗裔、必歸斯土、蓋亞摩利族之罪、尚未貫盈、 | But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. |
| 17 | 日入而昏、有出烟之爐、與已燃之炬、由牲牷中而過、 | And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. |
| 18 | 當日耶和華與亞伯蘭約、曰、我以斯土、賜爾苗裔、自埃及河、至伯拉大河、 | In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: |
| 19 | 卽基尼、基尼洗、甲摩尼、 | The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, |
| 20 | 赫、比利洗、利乏音、 | And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, |
| 21 | 亞摩利、迦南、革迦撒、耶布斯諸族之地、 | And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites. |
