1 我僕雅各、我所選之以色列歟、今其聽之、 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
2 肇造爾、自胎甄陶爾、輔助爾之耶和華云、我僕雅各、我所選之耶書崙歟、勿懼、 Thus saith the Lord that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
3 蓋我必注水於渴者、濬川於燥土、注我神於爾苗裔、降福祉於爾子孫、 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
4 彼將滋生於草中、若溪濱之柳、 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
5 將有人曰、我屬耶和華、有以雅各之名自稱、有手書歸耶和華、自稱爲以色列、○ One shall say, I am the Lord’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
6 萬軍之耶和華、贖以色列而爲其王者云、始我也、終亦我也、我外別無上帝、 Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
7 自我肇造上古之民以來、誰能如我宣布之、預言之、陳述之、至於未來之事、必成之事、任其指示之、 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
8 爾勿畏葸、勿驚惶、我豈非自古宣示爾乎、爾爲我證、我外豈有上帝乎、無有磐石、我不知其他也、 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
9 造雕像者、悉爲虛妄、其所悅者無益、彼之證者不見不知、必致愧怍、 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
10 誰造神像、或鑄無益之偶、 Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?
11 凡宗之者、咸生愧赧、造之之工、世人而已、任其聚會、屹立於此、必同戰慄、而慚恧焉、 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.
12 鐵工熾炭鍛之、以鎚治之、竭一臂之力、而製造之、飢而疲乏、渴而困憊、 The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.
13 木工布繩、畫之以筆、治之以鐋、正之以規、象人之形、猶人之美、處之於室、 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
14 更伐香柏、亦取橡櫟、皆林木之堅者、或植杉木、得雨露之養、 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.
15 人取之爲薪、用之暖體、燃之烘餅、或以之作神像、而崇拜之、雕偶像、而俯伏於其前、 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.
16 半以燃火、半以炙肉、食之果腹、復暖其身、曰、噫、我旣温暖、亦旣觀火、 He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:
17 尚有餘木、用之造神、以爲雕像、俯伏拜之、禱曰、爾其救予、蓋爾爲我神也、 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.
18 維彼不知不思、其目障翳不見、其心蒙蔽不明、 They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
19 無人想念、無知識、無聰明、不云材木之半、我已焚之以火、烘餅於炭、半以炙肉食之、豈可用其餘者、而作可憎之物、俯伏以拜木榦乎、 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
20 彼乃食灰、中心昏迷、使之離途、弗能自救、不知自言、我之右手所執、非虛誕乎、○ He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?
21 雅各以色列歟、其憶斯事、爾乃我僕、我甄陶爾、以爲我僕、以色列歟、我不忘爾、 Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.
22 我抹爾愆、若散密雲、我塗爾罪、如消陰霧、爾其歸我、蓋我贖爾、 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.
23 諸天歟、爾其謳歌、耶和華已成之矣、下土歟、爾其大聲而呼、羣山茂林、及其中之百樹歟、爾其發聲而歌、緣耶和華已贖雅各、必彰其榮於以色列焉、○ Sing, O ye heavens; for the Lord hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.
24 贖爾之耶和華、自胎甄陶爾者云、我耶和華創造萬物、獨布諸天、而張大地、斯時偕我者誰耶、 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
25 我使誑者之兆不驗、卜筮之輩顚狂、智者卻退、其聰慧變爲愚拙、 That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;
26 應我僕之言、成我使之謀、論耶路撒冷曰、必有居民、論猶大衆邑曰、必再建造、荒蕪之區、我必興之、 That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:
27 命深淵竭、其河我則涸之、 That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:
28 論古列曰、乃爲我牧、成我所悅、論耶路撒冷曰、必得建造、論聖殿曰、其基必立、 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
