| 1 | 約伯曰、 | Then Job answered and said, |
| 2 | 爾曹攪擾我心、以言摧折我躬、將至何時、 | How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words? |
| 3 | 爾斥責我十次、苦我而不自愧、 | These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me. |
| 4 | 設我有過、其過我自任之、 | And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself. |
| 5 | 爾若向我誇大、申明我恥、 | If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach: |
| 6 | 當知傾覆我、網圍我、乃上帝也、 | Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net. |
| 7 | 我呼屈抑、而不蒙垂聽、我求援助、而不得公斷、 | Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment. |
| 8 | 彼樊我徑、俾不得過、置黑暗於我途、 | He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths. |
| 9 | 褫我榮、脫我冕、 | He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head. |
| 10 | 四周毀我、我則逝矣、拔我冀望、如拔樹然、 | He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree. |
| 11 | 向我奮怒、視我爲敵、 | He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies. |
| 12 | 其軍偕至、築路攻我、列營以環我幕、 | His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle. |
| 13 | 使我兄弟乖離、相識疏遠、 | He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me. |
| 14 | 親戚絕我、密友忘我、 | My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me. |
| 15 | 家人婢女、以我爲外人、視我爲異族、 | They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight. |
| 16 | 呼我僕而不應、口求之而不答、 | I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth. |
| 17 | 我之氣味、我妻以爲異、我之祈求、同胞亦怪之、 | My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body. |
| 18 | 童稚藐我、我若起立、彼則譏訕、 | Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me. |
| 19 | 契合之友乃憎我、眷愛之人反攻我、 | All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me. |
| 20 | 我骨貼膚、所遺只此齒齦、 | My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth. |
| 21 | 我友朋歟、尚其矜我、矜我、因上帝之手、加於我身也、 | Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me. |
| 22 | 何仿上帝迫我、爾啖我肉、猶未饜乎、 | Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh? |
| 23 | 惟願我言見錄、我詞悉書於卷、 | Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book! |
| 24 | 以鐵筆鐫之於石、笵之以鉛、俾可永存、 | That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever! |
| 25 | 我知我之救者維生、終必立於地上、 | For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: |
| 26 | 我膚敗後、尚於形軀之外、得覲上帝、 | And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: |
| 27 | 我將親見之、目覩之、非外人見之、我心乃消於中矣、 | Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. |
| 28 | 爾若謂迫之宜如何、其事之根、在我約伯、 | But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me? |
| 29 | 則爾當畏刀劍、蓋忿怒干刀劍之刑、使爾知有鞫焉、 | Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment. |
