| 1 | 約伯曰、 | Then Job answered and said, |
| 2 | 如斯之言、我聞之屢矣、爾之慰藉、反增苦惱、 | I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. |
| 3 | 虛誕之詞、有終極乎、爾之應對、何所激耶、 | Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? |
| 4 | 我亦能言爾所言、假使爾心處於我心之境、我亦能輯詞責爾、向爾搖首、 | I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul’s stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you. |
| 5 | 然我必以口堅爾志、以舌解爾憂、 | But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief. |
| 6 | 我雖言之、我憂不解、我若不言、我憂其離我乎、 | Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased? |
| 7 | 上帝使我困憊、俾我親朋離逖、 | But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company. |
| 8 | 爾拘執我、以懲我罪、顦顇之狀、面證我過、 | And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face. |
| 9 | 以怒破裂我、窘迫我、向我切齒、我敵拭目視我、 | He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me. |
| 10 | 彼衆向我張吻、批頰辱我、集會攻我、 | They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me. |
| 11 | 上帝付我於不虔之輩、投我於惡人之手、 | God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. |
| 12 | 我素平康、彼乃折我、執我之頸、擲而碎我、以我爲的、 | I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. |
| 13 | 彼之射者環我、剖我腎、不施矜恤、瀝我膽於地、 | His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. |
| 14 | 屢加毀壞、有若勇士、趨而攻我、 | He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant. |
| 15 | 我縫麻布於我膚、汚我角於塵埃、 | I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust. |
| 16 | 我面因泣而赤、目蒙陰翳、 | My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death; |
| 17 | 然我手無虐、我禱維潔、 | Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure. |
| 18 | 地歟、勿掩我血、勿止我籲、 | O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place. |
| 19 | 今我在天有爲證者、在上有作保者、 | Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high. |
| 20 | 友朋姍笑、我目對上帝而流涕、 | My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God. |
| 21 | 願上帝爲人辨寃於其前、並在人之鄰里中、 | O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour! |
| 22 | 蓋閱數載、我必行不返之途矣、 | When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return. |
