| 1 | 維生之道、元始而有、我儕所聞所見、所目覩而手捫者、 | That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; |
| 2 | 此生顯著、我儕曾見之而爲證、且以語爾、卽永生也、乃原與父偕、而顯著於我儕者、 | (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) |
| 3 | 夫我儕以所見所聞者語爾、使爾心交於我儕、我儕亦心交於父、及其子耶穌基督、 | That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. |
| 4 | 我書此遺爾、俾我儕喜樂充盈焉、○ | And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. |
| 5 | 夫上帝乃光、無少暗昧、此我所聞於彼、而報於爾之示諭也、 | This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. |
| 6 | 若言心交於彼、而行於暗昧、則誑而不循眞理、 | If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: |
| 7 | 若行於光、猶彼在光、則互有心交、而其子耶穌之血、潔我諸罪矣、 | But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. |
| 8 | 若言無罪、則自欺、而眞理不在我衷、 | If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. |
| 9 | 若承我罪、彼乃信義、必赦我罪、潔我諸不義矣、 | If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
| 10 | 若言我未干罪、則以彼爲誑、其道不在我衷矣、 | If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. |
