| 1 | 愛友乎、我今以此後書遺爾、俱激勵爾誠心、俾爾記憶、 | This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: |
| 2 | 卽念夫聖先知往昔之言、及主救者藉爾之使徒所命、 | That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: |
| 3 | 首焉者、宜知季世將有戲謔者出而戲謔、從己慾而行、 | Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, |
| 4 | 謂降臨之許安在、自列祖寢後、萬物與初創時無異、 | And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. |
| 5 | 彼甘忘太古以上帝命而有諸天、及地自水而出、以水而結、 | For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: |
| 6 | 故當時之世、爲水氾濫而沒、 | Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: |
| 7 | 但今之天地、以是命而存以待火、留至惡人受鞫淪亡之日也、○ | But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. |
| 8 | 愛友乎、勿忘斯事、在主一日猶千年、千年猶一日、 | But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. |
| 9 | 主不延緩其所許、若有視爲延緩者、是乃寬忍爾曹、不欲一人淪亡、惟欲人皆改悔、 | The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. |
| 10 | 然主日將至、如盜然、是日諸天訇然而逝、體質俱爲烈火所化、地與其間之造作盡爇焉、 | But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. |
| 11 | 諸物旣將如是消滅、則爾曹之爲人、當如何清潔敬虔哉、 | Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, |
| 12 | 企慕上帝之日至、諸天因而焚毀、有體質者、悉以烈火銷鎔之、 | Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? |
| 13 | 我儕依其所許、希望新天新地、義寓其中焉、○ | Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. |
| 14 | 愛友乎、爾旣望此、則宜殷勤、俾獲平康、無玷無疵於其前、 | Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. |
| 15 | 且視我主之寬忍爲拯救、如我儕所愛之兄弟保羅、依所賦之智、嘗以書遺爾、 | And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; |
| 16 | 彼之諸書亦論及此、中有難明者、而不學不固之輩強解之、於他經亦然、乃自取淪亡也、○ | As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. |
| 17 | 愛友乎、旣豫知之、則宜謹愼、免爲惡者之謬所誘、失爾堅也、 | Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. |
| 18 | 惟宜增益於恩、及識夫我主救者耶穌基督、願榮歸之、自今以至永世、阿們、 | But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. |
