| 1 | 爲長老者書達蒙選之夫人、曁其子女、乃我所誠愛者、不第我也、凡識眞理者亦然、 | The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; |
| 2 | 此愛乃緣眞理、卽恆於我儕、永偕我儕者也、 | For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. |
| 3 | 願恩惠矜恤平康、由父上帝、及其子耶穌基督、以眞以愛、而偕我儕焉、○ | Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. |
| 4 | 我見爾子有行於眞理者、一如我儕自父所受之誡、則喜甚、 | I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. |
| 5 | 今求夫人宜相愛、此非我書新誡與爾、乃自始而有者也、 | And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. |
| 6 | 愛也者、卽依諸誡而行也、此誡卽宜行之於愛、如爾自始所聞者也、 | And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. |
| 7 | 蓋多有惑人者出世、不認耶穌基督成人身而臨、此乃惑人、且敵基督者也、 | For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. |
| 8 | 爾宜愼之、勿失我儕所勞者、則得充足之賞焉、 | Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. |
| 9 | 凡競進而不恆於基督之訓者、不有上帝也、恆於其訓者、則有父及子矣、 | Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. |
| 10 | 人若就爾、不持此訓、勿接之於家、亦勿問其安、 | If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: |
| 11 | 蓋問其安者、卽與其惡行也、○ | For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. |
| 12 | 我尚有多端書與爾、不欲以紙墨、乃望就爾晤談、使爾喜樂充盈焉、 | Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. |
| 13 | 爾蒙選之妹之子女問爾安、 | The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen. |
