| 2 | 愛友乎、我所祈者、願爾凡事暢遂安康、如爾心之暢遂然、 | Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. |
| 3 | 有兄弟來、證爾眞誠、卽依眞理而行、我則喜甚、 | For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. |
| 4 | 我聞我之子女、行於眞理、樂莫大焉、○ | I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. |
| 5 | 愛友乎、凡爾行於兄弟之爲賓旅者、乃忠信之行也、 | Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; |
| 6 | 彼於會中證爾之愛、若宜乎上帝、而送之行、斯爲善矣、 | Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: |
| 7 | 蓋彼爲其名而出、無所取於異邦人也、 | Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. |
| 8 | 若此者、我儕當接之、使我與之眞理同勞焉、○ | We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth. |
| 9 | 我曾畧以書達於會、但其中有好爲首之丟特腓、不接我儕、 | I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. |
| 10 | 我若來、必指陳其所行、彼以惡言妄論我儕、尚不以爲足、己不接兄弟、有欲接者則禁之、逐之出會、 | Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. |
| 11 | 愛友乎、勿效惡、當效善、行善者由上帝、行惡者未見上帝也、 | Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. |
| 12 | 低米丟爲衆及眞理所證、我儕亦證之、爾知我儕之證乃眞也、○ | Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true. |
| 13 | 我本有多端欲書與爾、但不願以筆墨書之、 | I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee: |
