1 逾越節前六日、耶穌至伯大尼、卽使拉撒路自死復起之所、 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
2 在彼或爲之具飱、馬大供事、拉撒路爲同席者之一、 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
3 馬利亞以至純至貴那達膏一斤、膏耶穌足、以髮拭之、膏香滿室、 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
4 門徒之一、卽將賣耶穌之加畧人猶大曰、 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,
5 何不以此膏鬻金三十、以濟貧乎、 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
6 此言非顧貧、乃因其爲竊、且職橐而取所貯耳、 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
7 耶穌曰、聽之、俾存之俟我葬日、 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
8 蓋爾恆有貧者偕、不恆有我也、○ For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.
9 猶太衆庶、知耶穌在彼、則至、不獨爲耶穌、亦欲見其自死而起之拉撒路、 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 祭司諸長相議、欲並拉撒路而殺之、 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
11 蓋猶太人多因之信耶穌也、○ Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
12 翌日、赴節者甚衆、聞耶穌將至耶路撒冷、 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 取椶枝出迎、呼曰、和散那、奉主名來者之以色列王、宜頌也、 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
14 耶穌遇小驢乘之、如記所云、 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
15 錫安女勿懼、爾王來矣、乘驢駒也、 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.
16 門徒初不明此、至耶穌榮時、方憶斯事經已載之、而衆果行之也、 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
17 耶穌呼拉撒路出墓、俾其自死而起、所偕之衆爲證、 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
18 衆往迎之、聞其行斯異蹟故也、 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
19 法利賽人相語曰、爾謀一無所濟、舉世皆從之矣、○ The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
20 當節期往拜者、中有希利尼數人、 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:
21 就加利利伯賽大人腓力曰、主、我儕欲見耶穌、 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
22 腓力往告安得烈、安得烈與腓力告耶穌、 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
23 耶穌曰、人子榮時至矣、 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 我誠語汝、麥粒弗落於地而死、獨存而已、死則結實繁矣、 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
25 愛其生者喪之、不愛其生於斯世者、將保之至永生、 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
26 人役於我、則當從我、我所在、我役亦將在焉、役於我者、我父將貴之、 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
27 今我心憂忡、將何言乎、父歟、拯我免於斯時、然我爲此而至斯時也、 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
28 父歟、願爾榮爾名、時、自天有聲云、我旣榮之、將再榮之、 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29 旁立之衆聞之、曰、雷也、或曰、天使與之言也、 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
30 耶穌曰、斯聲之來、非爲我、乃爲爾曹、 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
31 今此世見鞫、此世之君見逐矣、 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32 我若見舉離地、將引衆就我矣、 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33 耶穌此言、乃示其將死之狀也、 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
34 衆曰、我聞律云、基督永存、爾何言人子將見舉乎、此人子誰耶、 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
35 耶穌曰、光在爾中暫耳、有光則宜行、免暗及爾、行於暗者、不知所往矣、 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 爾尚有光、宜信之、致成爲光之子也、○ While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
37 耶穌言竟、遂往而隱、雖多行異蹟於衆前、而人猶不之信、 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
38 以應先知以賽亞之言云、主歟、我所宣傳、信者誰乎、主之臂力、顯於誰乎、 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 衆所以不能信者、蓋以賽亞又云、 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 主瞽其目、頑其心、恐其目見心悟、轉移而我醫之、 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 以賽亞之言、因見其榮、而論及之也、 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
42 然有司多信之、以法利賽人故、不承認之、恐見逐於會堂、 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
43 蓋好人之榮、過於上帝之榮也、○ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 耶穌呼曰、信我者、非信我、乃信遣我者、 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
45 且見我、卽見遣我者也、 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
46 我乃光、臨於世、俾信者弗居於暗、 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47 聞我言而不守者、我不之鞫、蓋我來非以鞫世、乃以救世耳、 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 人拒我、弗納我言、有鞫之者、卽我所言之道、將鞫之於末日也、 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
49 我未嘗由己而言、乃遣我之父、以所當言、所當語者命我也、 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 我知其命乃永生、故我所言、乃依父語我者言之、 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
