| 1 | 耶和華論巴比倫與迦勒底地、藉先知耶利米曰、 | The word that the Lord spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet. |
| 2 | 宜宣告於列邦、豎立旌旆、播揚勿隱、曰、巴比倫被陷、彼勒蒙羞、米羅達傾覆、其神像慚愧、其偶像傾覆、 | Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces. |
| 3 | 有民自北方來攻之、使其地荒蕪、無人居處、人畜皆逃而去、 | For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast. |
| 4 | 耶和華曰、是日是時、以色列人必與猶大人偕來、且行且哭、尋求其上帝耶和華、 | In those days, and in that time, saith the Lord, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the Lord their God. |
| 5 | 面錫安而詢其事曰、其來、連屬於耶和華、結永久弗忘之約、○ | They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the Lord in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten. |
| 6 | 我民曾爲亡羊、其牧使入迷途、轉徙於山、自此山至彼岡、忘其棲止之所、 | My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace. |
| 7 | 凡遇之者、則吞噬之、敵曰、耶和華爲義所、乃其列祖之望、而彼干犯之、故我儕無罪焉、 | All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the Lord, the habitation of justice, even the Lord, the hope of their fathers. |
| 8 | 爾其逃出巴比倫、去迦勒底人地、若牡山羊導其羣羊、 | Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks. |
| 9 | 蓋我必使大邦之衆、來自北方、以攻巴比倫、列陳擊之、於是被陷、敵矢必如精練武士之矢、無徒返者、 | For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain. |
| 10 | 耶和華曰、迦勒底將見虜、凡虜之者、皆饜其欲、 | And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the Lord. |
| 11 | 刧我業者歟、緣爾欣喜懽忭、放恣若踐穀之犢、嘶鳴若健馬、 | Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls; |
| 12 | 爾母必蒙羞、生爾者必抱愧、爲列國之末、亦爲曠野、燥土沙漠、 | Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert. |
| 13 | 緣耶和華之怒、必成荒蕪、無人居處、凡過巴比倫者、必將驚駭、因其所遭之禍、而嗤笑之、 | Because of the wrath of the Lord it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues. |
| 14 | 挽弓之衆歟、爾其列陳、環攻巴比倫、射之毋惜厥矢、以其干罪於耶和華也、 | Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the Lord. |
| 15 | 環之而呼、彼已投誠、其堞毀壞、其垣傾圮、斯乃耶和華復仇、爾當復仇於彼、依其所行而報之、 | Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the Lord: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her. |
| 16 | 在巴比倫播種者、與穡時執鐮者宜悉絕之、緣懼殘酷之刃、必各返本族、歸故土、○ | Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land. |
| 17 | 以色列乃離散之羊、爲獅所逐、始則亞述王吞噬之、終則巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒折其骨、 | Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones. |
| 18 | 故萬軍之耶和華、以色列之上帝曰、我必罰巴比倫王與其地、若罰亞述王然、 | Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria. |
| 19 | 導以色列歸其牧場、得食於迦密巴珊、饜足於以法蓮岡、與基列地、 | And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead. |
| 20 | 耶和華曰、是日是時、人必求以色列之愆尤、而無有焉、求猶大之罪戾、而不見焉、蓋我必赦宥我所存之遺民也、○ | In those days, and in that time, saith the Lord, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve. |
| 21 | 耶和華曰、上攻米拉大翁地、及北割居民、殺戮而盡滅之、循我所命而行、 | Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the Lord, and do according to all that I have commanded thee. |
| 22 | 戰鬬傾覆之聲、聞於境內、 | A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction. |
| 23 | 擊全地之鎚、奚斷折乎、巴比倫在列國中、奚荒蕪乎、 | How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations! |
| 24 | 巴比倫歟、我爲爾設機檻、爾不覺而陷之、爲人所遇、爲人所擒、以爾與耶和華爭也、 | I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the Lord. |
| 25 | 萬軍之主耶和華、有事於迦勒底人地、啟其武庫、出其震怒之械、 | The Lord hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans. |
| 26 | 爾曹當自極遠之境而來、開其倉廩、積之如堆、滅之務盡、俾無所遺、 | Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left. |
| 27 | 宰其牡犢、使至屠所、禍哉其人、蓋彼受罰之日至矣、 | Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation. |
| 28 | 自巴比倫逃脫者、揚聲宣告於錫安、我上帝耶和華復仇、爲其殿宇復仇也、 | The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, the vengeance of his temple. |
| 29 | 其集挽弓之衆、來攻巴比倫、列營圍之、勿容一人逃遁、循其所爲而報之、依其所行以待之、緣彼狂傲、悖逆以色列之聖者耶和華也、 | Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the Lord, against the Holy One of Israel. |
| 30 | 耶和華曰、是日也、其少者必仆於衢、諸戰士寂然無聲、 | Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord. |
| 31 | 萬軍之主耶和華曰、狂傲者歟、我爲爾敵、爾日已至、卽罰爾之時也、 | Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord God of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee. |
| 32 | 狂傲者必躓而顚、無人起之、我必燃火於其諸邑、焚其四周所有、○ | And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him. |
| 33 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、以色列人及猶大人、同受暴虐、虜之者堅持不釋、 | Thus saith the Lord of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go. |
| 34 | 贖之者有力、厥名爲萬軍之耶和華、必伸其寃、錫大地綏安、使巴比倫居民煩擾、 | Their Redeemer is strong; the Lord of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon. |
| 35 | 耶和華曰、刃臨於迦勒底人、與巴比倫居民、及其牧伯哲士、 | A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the Lord, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men. |
| 36 | 刃臨於矜誇者、使爲愚蠢、刃臨於其武士、使之驚惶、 | A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed. |
| 37 | 刃臨於其馬與車、曁其中雜族、使若婦女、刃臨於其貨財、使遭攘奪、 | A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed. |
| 38 | 旱及於諸水、使之盡涸、因其爲雕像之境也、彼衆若狂以奉偶像、 | A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols. |
| 39 | 故野獸與豺狼、必居於彼、鴕鳥亦處其間、永爲荒墟、歷世無人居處、 | Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. |
| 40 | 耶和華曰、必如所多瑪蛾摩拉、及其鄰邑之傾覆、無人居處、世人不寓其中、 | As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the Lord; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein. |
| 41 | 有一族自北方而來、有大國及諸王被激、自地極而起、 | Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. |
| 42 | 執弓與戟、殘忍不慈、聲若海濤之漰渤、巴比倫女歟、彼乘馬而來、列陳以攻爾、 | They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon. |
| 43 | 巴比倫王聞聲而手弱、悽楚迫之、痛苦若臨產之婦、 | The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail. |
| 44 | 敵必若獅、自約但之叢林而出、攻其恆茂之草場、我必令其突然逃避、且立所選者治之、誰與我比擬、誰與我爭辯、牧者伊誰、立於我前、 | Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me? |
| 45 | 故爾宜聽耶和華所定攻巴比倫之謀、擊迦勒底地之志、其羣之小者、敵必曳之去、使其草場荒寂、 | Therefore hear ye the counsel of the Lord, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them. |
| 46 | 巴比倫傾覆之聲、震動大地、號呼之聲、聞於列邦、 | At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations. |
