1 論亞捫人、耶和華曰、以色列豈無子乎、豈乏嗣乎、瑪勒堪奚據迦得地、厥民曷居其邑耶、 Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the Lord; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?
2 故耶和華曰、時日將至、我必使戰鬬之警、聞於亞捫人之拉巴、俾其成爲邱墟、屬邑爲火所焚、其時以色列、必據昔據以色列者、耶和華言之矣、 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the Lord.
3 希實本歟、其號咷、因艾已荒蕪、拉巴女歟、宜號呼、束麻哭泣、躑躅於藩籬間、蓋瑪勒堪必被虜、其祭司牧伯與焉、 Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.
4 背逆之女歟、奚爲誇爾流水之谷、爾恃財寶曰、誰克至我、 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
5 萬軍之主耶和華曰、我必自四周列邦、使驚恐臨爾、衆各被逐、直趨而出、流離失所、無人撫集、 Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord God of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.
6 厥後、我必返亞捫人之俘囚、耶和華言之矣、○ And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith the Lord.
7 論以東、萬軍之耶和華曰、今在提幔、不復有智乎、哲人絕其謀畧乎、其智銷亡乎、 Concerning Edom, thus saith the Lord of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?
8 底但居民歟、爾其轉而逃遁、居於深處、蓋我懲罰以掃之日、必加以災、 Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.
9 如摘葡萄者詣爾、豈不少有所遺乎、如盜賊夜刧、豈不饜所欲而後已乎、 If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.
10 惟我已裸以掃、露其隱處、致其不能自匿、彼之子孫、兄弟鄰里、俱被殲滅、彼亦歸於烏有、 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.
11 當遺爾孤子、我必全其生、爾之嫠婦、亦當恃我、 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.
12 耶和華曰、不當飲此杯者、必將飲之、爾能盡免刑罰乎、斷不得免、必飲之也、 For thus saith the Lord; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it.
13 耶和華曰、我指己而誓、波斯拉必成爲可駭、可辱可詛、且爲荒蕪、其屬邑永爲邱墟、 For I have sworn by myself, saith the Lord, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.
14 有風聲自耶和華出、我聞之矣、有使奉遣至列邦曰、爾其集而攻之、咸起而戰、 I have heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.
15 蓋我使爾以東、在列邦中爲微、爲人蔑視、 For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.
16 爾居巖穴、據山巔者、白以爲可畏、心傲而自欺、爾縱若鷹巢於高處、我必取爾、自彼而降、耶和華言之矣、 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the Lord.
17 以東必成怪異、凡過之者、必將驚駭、因其所遭之禍、而嗤笑之、 Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.
18 耶和華曰、必如所多瑪蛾摩拉、及其鄰邑之傾覆、無人居處、世人不寓其中、 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the Lord, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
19 敵必若獅、自約但之叢林而出、攻其恆茂之草場、我必令其突然逃避、且立所選者治之、誰與我比擬、誰與我爭辯、牧者伊誰、立於我前、 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
20 故爾宜聽耶和華所定攻以東之謀、擊提幔居民之志、其羣之小者、敵必曳之去、使其草場荒寂、 Therefore hear the counsel of the Lord, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
21 其傾覆之聲、震動大地、其號呼之聲、聞於紅海、 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.
22 敵之上也、如鷹之飛、展翮於波斯拉、是日也、以東武士心怯、猶臨產之婦、○ Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
23 論大馬色曰、哈馬亞珥拔抱愧矣、蓋聞凶耗而銷沮、海上有憂、不得綏安、 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
24 大馬色疲憊、轉而遁逃、戰慄迫之、憂苦臨之、猶臨產之婦、 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
25 得譽之邑、我所悅者、何不早棄之乎、 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
26 萬軍之耶和華曰、是日也、其少者必仆於衢、諸戰士寂然無聲、 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord of hosts.
27 我必燃火於大馬色城垣、焚便哈達宮室、○ And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Ben–hadad.
28 論基達及夏瑣諸國、卽巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒所擊者、耶和華曰、爾起而往基達、翦滅東方之人、 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the Lord; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east.
29 掠其帳幕羣羊、奪其帷幄器皿駱駝、以爲己有、向之呼曰、四周驚惶、 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.
30 耶和華曰、夏瑣居民歟、爾其逃遁、遊於遠方、居於深處、蓋巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒定計害爾、決意擊爾、 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the Lord; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.
31 耶和華曰、起而往攻安居無慮之族、無門無楗、獨處之民、 Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the Lord, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
32 其駱駝、爾必奪之、其羣畜、爾必掠之、凡薙鬢與鬚者、我必散之四方、且自四周降災於彼、耶和華言之矣、 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the Lord.
33 夏瑣將爲野犬之穴、永久荒蕪、無人居處、世人不寓其中、○ And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.
34 猶大王西底家卽位時、耶和華論以攔、諭先知耶利米曰、 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
35 萬軍之耶和華云、以攔所恃爲強之弓、我必折之、 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
36 使四風自天四方而至、以擊以攔、散於四方、其被逐者、無國不至、 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
37 耶和華曰、我必使以攔人驚惶於敵、及索其命者之箭、降之以災、卽我烈怒、使刃隨之、迄於盡滅、 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the Lord; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:
38 耶和華曰、我必設我位於以攔、滅其君王牧伯、 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the Lord.
39 然至末日、我必返以攔之俘囚、耶和華言之矣、 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the Lord.
