1 耶和華曰、我必起肅殺之風、以擊巴比倫、及立加米居民、 Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;
2 遣外邦人往巴比倫以簸之、空虛其境、其遘難之日、敵必環而攻之、 And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.
3 射者當挽厥弓、射彼之挽弓者、及擐甲而立者、勿顧惜其少者、必盡滅其軍旅、 Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.
4 彼必見戮、仆於迦勒底地、被刺仆於其衢、 Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.
5 以色列與猶大、雖逆以色列之聖者、罪盈四境、萬軍之耶和華、彼之上帝、仍未棄之、 For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the Lord of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.
6 當自巴比倫逃出、各救己生、毋因其罪而見絕、斯乃耶和華復仇之期、必報之也、 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the Lord’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.
7 巴比倫曾爲金杯、在耶和華手、用使天下沈醉、列邦飲其酒、因之而狂、 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
8 巴比倫倏爾傾覆毀滅、當爲之號咷、取乳香以醫其痛、庶可得愈、 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.
9 我儕欲醫巴比倫而不得、可去之、各歸故土、其禍滔天、上達穹蒼、 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.
10 耶和華旣彰我義、其來、在錫安宣我上帝耶和華之作爲、 The Lord hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the Lord our God.
11 礪乃矢、執乃盾、耶和華感瑪代諸王之心、以其定志滅巴比倫、斯乃耶和華復仇、爲其殿宇復仇也、 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the Lord hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the Lord, the vengeance of his temple.
12 樹幟以攻巴比倫城垣、堅戍守、立斥候、設伏防禦、蓋耶和華爲巴比倫居民所言者、旣定之、亦成之矣、 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the Lord hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.
13 居於諸水之濱、富有貨財者歟、爾之末期已屆、貪婪之量已盈、 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.
14 萬軍之耶和華指己而誓曰、我必使敵若蝗、充牣爾中、彼必向爾號呼、○ The Lord of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.
15 耶和華以其能力創造大地、以其智慧奠定寰宇、以其明哲展布諸天、 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.
16 彼發厥聲、則穹蒼之水鳴動、地極之雲上騰、電隨雨作、風自庫出、 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
17 人皆冥頑無知、金匠因其雕像而羞慚、所鑄之像、乃爲虛僞、內無氣息、 Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
18 悉屬虛無、惑人之工、譴責之際、俱必滅亡、 They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
19 雅各之業非若是、彼造萬物、以色列爲其嗣業之族、萬軍之耶和華、乃其名也、○ The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the Lord of hosts is his name.
20 爾爲我戰鬬之椎及器械、我必用爾碎諸國、毀列邦、 Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;
21 用爾碎馬與乘之者、 And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;
22 用爾碎車與駕之者、用爾碎男女老幼、用爾碎少者處女、 With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;
23 用爾碎牧者、與其羣羊、用爾碎農夫、與其雙牛、用爾碎方伯州牧、 I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.
24 耶和華曰、昔巴比倫人、曁迦勒底居民、在錫安所行之惡、我必報之、使爾目覩、○ And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the Lord.
25 耶和華曰、肅殺之山、毀滅全地者歟、我必敵爾、伸手擊爾、使爾自巖軫轉而下、成爲焚燬之山、 Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.
26 人不取爾石爲屋隅、爲基址、爾必永爲荒蕪、耶和華言之矣、 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the Lord.
27 樹幟於大地、吹角於列邦、集諸族來攻之、招亞拉臘米尼亞實基拿諸國擊之、立軍長攻之、使驍騎咸上、有若陋蝗、 Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.
28 會集諸族、卽瑪代君王、與其方伯州牧、曁所轄之國民、以攻之、 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
29 地震動而愁慘、蓋耶和華攻巴比倫之志已定、必使其地荒蕪、無人居處、 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the Lord shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.
30 巴比倫之武士不戰、居於保障、厥力已衰、有如婦女、第宅被焚、門楗見折、 The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.
31 郵人遞傳、使者相遇、報告巴比倫王、其邑四周被取、 One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,
32 諸津被據、蘆葦悉焚、戰士恐惶、○ And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.
33 萬軍之耶和華、以色列之上帝曰、巴比倫女、若禾場值踐穀之期、未幾其穡時至焉、 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.
34 錫安民曰、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒噬我毀我、棄我如空器、吞我如鱷魚、以我珍饈果腹、驅我而出、彼虐遇我、曁我骨肉、願罪歸巴比倫、耶路撒冷民曰、彼流我血、願罪歸迦勒底居民、 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.
35 錫安民曰、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒噬我毀我、棄我如空器、吞我如鱷魚、以我珍饈果腹、驅我而出、彼虐遇我、曁我骨肉、願罪歸巴比倫、耶路撒冷民曰、彼流我血、願罪歸迦勒底居民、 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.
36 故耶和華曰、我必爲爾伸寃、爲爾復仇、涸其海、竭其泉、 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.
37 巴比倫必成邱墟、野犬之穴、爲人駭異嗤笑、無人居處、 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.
38 彼將咆哮如稚獅、怒吼若小獅、 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions’ whelps.
39 耶和華曰、彼欲心薰灼時、我必爲之設筵、使之沈醉、長眠不醒、 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the Lord.
40 我必導之下就宰所、若羔羊、牡綿羊、牡山羊然、 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.
41 示沙克奚被陷乎、全地所譽者、奚被取乎、巴比倫在列邦中、奚荒蕪乎、 How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!
42 海水漲溢而淹巴比倫、波濤洶湧以覆之、 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.
43 其邑荒蕪、成爲燥土沙漠、無人居處之地、世人不經歷之、 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby.
44 我必懲罰彼勒於巴比倫、出所吞者於其口、列邦不復匯之、巴比倫之城垣、必傾覆焉、○ And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.
45 我民歟、當出其中以自救、避耶和華之烈怒、 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the Lord.
46 心毋恇怯、聞風聲於斯土、亦毋驚惶、蓋今歲必聞風聲、明年亦然、境內有強暴、民長相攻、 And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.
47 時日將至、我必懲罰巴比倫之雕像、使舉國抱愧、見殺者咸仆於其中、 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
48 斯時也、天地及凡所有、必因巴比倫、謳歌喜樂、殘賊者必自北方臨之、耶和華言之矣、 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the Lord.
49 巴比倫曾使以色列見殺者顚仆、如是、巴比倫見殺者、亦必顚仆於其地、 As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.
50 惟爾免於刃者、往哉、勿立、自遠方追念耶和華、懷思耶路撒冷、 Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the Lord afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.
51 異邦人入耶和華室之聖所、我聞此辱、羞慚滿面、 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the Lord’s house.
52 耶和華曰、時日將至、我必懲罰其雕像、受傷者呻吟、遍滿其地、 Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.
53 耶和華曰、巴比倫雖及於天、高其城垣、俾成鞏固、我必遣殘賊者臨之、 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the Lord.
54 自巴比倫有哀號之聲、自迦勒底地有大毀之聲、 A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:
55 蓋耶和華使巴比倫荒蕪、絕其中之譁然、敵若大水、波濤漰渤、發其喧闐之聲、 Because the Lord hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:
56 殘賊者臨於巴比倫、其武士被擒、其弓見折、蓋耶和華乃施報之上帝、必報之也、 Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the Lord God of recompences shall surely requite.
57 大君王名萬軍之耶和華曰、我必使其牧伯哲人、方伯州牧、以及武士、悉皆沈醉、長眠不醒、 And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts.
58 萬軍之耶和華曰、巴比倫寬廣之城垣、必盡傾覆、其高門必焚於火、諸民勞力歸於虛、列邦經營乃爲火、俱必困乏、○ Thus saith the Lord of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.
59 瑪西雅孫、尼利亞子、內大臣西萊亞、於猶大王西底家四年、偕王往巴比倫時、先知耶利米有言囑之、 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.
60 又以論巴比倫必遘之災、筆之於書、 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.
61 耶利米語西萊亞曰、爾至巴比倫、務誦是言、 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;
62 且曰、耶和華歟、爾言必滅斯土、使無居民、人畜俱泯、永爲荒蕪、 Then shalt thou say, O Lord, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.
63 誦書旣竟、則繫書於石、投諸伯拉河中、 And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:
64 曰、巴比倫因耶和華所降之災、必如是沈淪、不得復起、其力憊矣、耶利米之言、至是而止、 And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
