| 1 | 當猶大王約西亞子約雅敬時、耶和華諭耶利米曰、 | The word which came unto Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying, |
| 2 | 往利甲家與之言、導之詣耶和華室、入屋飲之以酒、 | Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the Lord, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink. |
| 3 | 我遂攜哈巴洗尼雅孫、雅利米雅子雅撒尼亞、及其昆弟諸子、曁利甲全家、 | Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites; |
| 4 | 導至耶和華室、入上帝僕伊基大利子哈難諸子之屋、其屋鄰於牧伯之屋、在沙龍子閽人瑪西雅屋之上、 | And I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door: |
| 5 | 我取爵與杯盈以酒、置利甲人前、語之曰、飲酒、 | And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine. |
| 6 | 彼曰、我儕不飲酒、緣我祖利甲子約拿達命我曰、爾及子孫、永勿飲酒、 | But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever: |
| 7 | 勿建室、勿播種、勿植葡萄園、亦勿有之、畢生居幕、則延年於羇旅之地、 | Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers. |
| 8 | 我祖利甲子約拿達所囑者、我悉遵之、我與妻室子女、畢生不飲酒、 | Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters; |
| 9 | 亦不建室以居、無葡萄園、田疇穀種、 | Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed: |
| 10 | 惟居於幕、悉遵我祖約拿達所命而行、 | But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us. |
| 11 | 巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒入境時、我儕因懼迦勒底人、及亞蘭軍旅、則曰、其上耶路撒冷、故我儕居於此、○ | But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem. |
| 12 | 耶和華諭耶利米曰、 | Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, saying, |
| 13 | 萬軍之耶和華、以色列之上帝曰、往告猶大人、曁耶路撒冷居民曰、耶和華云、爾不受教、不聽我言乎、 | Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the Lord. |
| 14 | 利甲子約拿達命其子孫勿飲酒之言、彼衆遵之、迄今聽從祖命、而不飲酒、惟我雖夙興而訓爾、爾不我聽、 | The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened not unto me. |
| 15 | 我亦遣我僕諸先知、夙興而遣之曰、爾各轉離惡途、改正其行、不從他神而服事之、則得居於我所錫爾、及爾列祖之地、惟爾不側耳以聽、不從我言、 | I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me. |
| 16 | 利甲子約拿達子孫、遵其先人所命、乃斯民不聽從我、 | Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people hath not hearkened unto me: |
| 17 | 故萬軍之上帝耶和華、以色列之上帝曰、我必降所言之災於猶大人、及耶路撒冷居民、以我諭之而彼不聽、召之而彼不應也、 | Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered. |
| 18 | 耶利米語利甲家曰、萬軍之耶和華、以色列之上帝云、因爾從爾祖約拿達之命、守其諸誡、行其所諭、 | And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you: |
| 19 | 故利甲子約拿達、必永不乏人、侍於我前、萬軍之耶和華、以色列之上帝言之矣、 | Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever. |
