當巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、率其全軍、與其所轄之國及諸族、攻耶路撒冷與其屬邑時、耶和華諭耶利米之言、 | The word which came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying,
以色列之上帝耶和華曰、往告猶大王西底家曰、耶和華云、我必付是邑於巴比倫王手、彼將焚之以火、 | Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire:
爾不得脫於其手、必見執而付於其手、爾目觀巴比倫王之目、彼與爾言、以口對口、爾必至巴比倫、 | And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.
猶大王西底家歟、其聽耶和華言、耶和華論爾曰、爾必不亡於刃、 | Yet hear the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus saith the Lord of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword:
必安然而逝、人必爲爾焚物、如爲爾之列祖先王然、亦爲爾哀悼曰、哀哉我主、耶和華曰、我已言之矣、 | But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will lament thee, saying, Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the Lord.
先知耶利米在耶路撒冷、以斯言悉告猶大王西底家、 | Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,
時、巴比倫王之軍旅攻耶路撒冷、與猶大所餘之邑、卽拉吉與亞西加、蓋猶大堅城、僅存其二也、○ | When the king of Babylon’s army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah: for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.
西底家王與耶路撒冷民立約、宣告自由之後、耶和華諭耶利米之言、 | This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;
其約命人各釋僕婢、希伯來男女、使之自由、不以同族猶大人爲隸役、 | That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.
牧伯庶民旣與此約、悉遵行之、各釋其僕婢、使之自由、不復以爲隸役、 | Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.
後乃反悔、令其所釋僕婢、歸而事之、仍爲僕婢、 | But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.
故耶和華諭耶利米曰、 | Therefore the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
以色列之上帝耶和華云、昔我導爾祖出埃及、脫於奴隸之室、與之立約曰、 | Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying,
如爾昆弟希伯來人、見鬻於爾、事爾六年、旣屆七年、當釋之自由、惟爾祖不從我言、不側耳以聽、 | At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.
爾曾轉念、行我所悅、宣告自由於鄰里、立約於我前、在我寄名之室、 | And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:
後乃反悔、褻凟我名、各使所釋自由之僕婢、歸而事爾、仍爲僕婢、 | But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.
故耶和華曰、爾不聽我、宣告自由於昆弟鄰里、今我宣告自由於爾、卽縱鋒刃疫癘饑饉於爾、使爾播散於天下萬國、 | Therefore thus saith the Lord; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the Lord, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
凡背我約、不遵其約之言、卽剖犢而過其間、於我前所立者、 | And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof,
猶大與耶路撒冷之牧伯、宦豎祭司、境內諸民、凡過剖犢之間者、 | The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf;
我必付之於敵、及索其命者之手、其屍必爲飛鳥野獸所食、 | I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.
猶大王西底家、曁其牧伯、我必付之於敵、及索其命者之手、並付於巴比倫王軍旅之手、卽去爾而往者、 | And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which are gone up from you.
耶和華曰、我必命之復返是邑、攻而取之、焚之以火、我亦必使猶大諸邑荒蕪、無人居處、 | Behold, I will command, saith the Lord, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.
