1 以利沙曾謂所甦其子之婦曰、爾與爾家、起往可居之地而居、蓋耶和華必使饑饉臨於斯土、歷至七年、 Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the Lord hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.
2 婦起、遵上帝僕之言、攜其家往居非利士地、歷至七年、 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 七年之末、婦自非利士地而返、爲其第宅田畝、往籲於王、 And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.
4 時、王與上帝僕之僕基哈西相語曰、請以以利沙所行之大事告我、 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.
5 基哈西以其甦死者之事告王、適所甦其子之婦、爲第宅田畝籲王、基哈西曰、我主我王、此卽其婦、此卽其子、乃以利沙所甦者、 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.
6 王問婦、婦告之、遂命一宦者曰、凡屬此婦、曁其離國至今、田畝所產者、悉反之、○ And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.
7 以利沙至大馬色、亞蘭王便哈達遘疾、或告之曰、上帝僕至此、 And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben–hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
8 王命哈薛曰、爾攜禮物、往迎上帝僕、託之詢於耶和華、我病得愈否、 And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the Lord by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?
9 哈薛遂往迎之、以四十駝、負大馬色各種佳品、以爲禮物、旣至、立於其前曰、爾子亞蘭王便哈達、遣我詣爾曰、我病得愈否、 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben–hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?
10 以利沙曰、汝往告之曰、爾必愈、然耶和華曾示我彼必死、 And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me that he shall surely die.
11 遂注視哈薛、致其愧怍、上帝僕乃哭、 And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.
12 哈薛曰、我主何爲而哭、曰、我知爾於以色列人將行之惡、以火燬其堅城、以刃殺其丁壯、擲斃其嬰孩、刳剔其孕婦、 And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.
13 哈薛曰、僕何人斯、乃一犬耳、焉能行此大事、以利沙曰、耶和華已示我、爾必爲亞蘭王、 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.
14 哈薛別以利沙、返見其主、其主問曰、以利沙與爾何言、曰、言爾必愈、 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.
15 翌日、哈薛以裯濡水、覆其面、致之死、哈薛遂繼其位、○ And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
16 以色列王亞哈子約蘭五年、猶大王約沙法尚在位時、其子約蘭卽位、 And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
17 時、年三十有二、在耶路撒冷爲王、凡歷八年、 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
18 循以色列諸王之道、如亞哈家所爲、蓋娶亞哈女爲妻、行耶和華所惡、 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
19 然耶和華以其僕大衞故、不滅猶大、依其所許、永錫燈光於大衞、爰及子孫、 Yet the Lord would not destroy Judah for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.
20 當約蘭時、以東叛猶大、脫於其手、立王自治、 In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
21 約蘭率所有之車至撒益、以東人圍之、約蘭夜起擊之、及其車長、猶大民遁、各歸其幕、 So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.
22 如是以東叛猶大、至於今日、立拿亦同時而叛、 Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.
23 約蘭其餘事蹟、凡其所行、俱載於猶大列王紀、 And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24 約蘭與列祖偕眠、同葬於大衞城、子亞哈謝嗣位、○ And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
25 以色列王亞哈子約蘭十二年、猶大王約蘭子亞哈謝卽位、 In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.
26 時、年二十有二、在耶路撒冷爲王、僅歷一年、其母名亞他利雅、乃以色列王暗利之孫也、 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
27 亞哈謝循亞哈家之道、行耶和華所惡、如亞哈家所爲、因其爲亞哈家之壻也、 And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the Lord, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.
28 彼與亞哈子約蘭往基列拉末、與亞蘭王哈薛戰、約蘭爲亞蘭人所傷、 And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth–gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.
29 約蘭返耶斯列、醫其在拉末與亞蘭王哈薛戰時、所受之傷、猶大王約蘭子亞哈謝因其疾病、下耶斯列視之、 And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
