以利沙曰、宜聽耶和華之言、耶和華云、明日此時、在撒瑪利亞邑門、細麪一細亞、售銀一舍客勒、麰麥二細亞、售銀一舍客勒、 | Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
扶王之軍長謂上帝僕曰、卽耶和華啟牖於天、豈能有此事乎、以利沙曰、爾必目覩、惟不得食、○ | Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
邑門有癩者四人、相語曰、我坐此待斃、何爲哉、 | And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
若云入邑、則邑中饑、必死於彼、如坐於此、亦必死焉、其來、我儕往降於亞蘭軍、如存我生、則生、如殺我、則死耳、 | If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
薄暮遂起、往亞蘭營、至營之邊隅、闃其無人、 | And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.
蓋耶和華使亞蘭軍旅、聞車聲馬聲、大軍之聲、則相語曰、以色列王必賄赫族、與埃及諸王、來攻我矣、 | For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.
薄暮卽起而遁、棄其帳幕馬驢、留營如故、祇逃其生、 | Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.
癩者至營之邊隅、入一幕、式食式飲、攜其金銀衣服、出而匿之、返入他幕、亦攜其物匿之、 | And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.
乃相語曰、我所爲者未善、今日有佳音、而我儕默爾、待至平旦、罪必及我、我儕其往、報於王家、 | Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.
遂往、呼守門者、告之曰、我至亞蘭營、見無人在、亦無人聲、惟馬驢繫焉、帳幕如故、 | So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.
守門者乃呼告於王家、 | And he called the porters; and they told it to the king’s house within.
王夜起、謂其臣曰、亞蘭人於我所爲、我以示爾、彼知我飢、故出營伏於田、意謂其人出城時、我儕則生擒之、而入其邑、 | And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.
一臣對曰、請於邑中所遺之馬、遣人取其五匹、而往窺之、以色列人幾至滅絕、此馬之數、如遺民焉、 | And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.
遂取馬與二車、王遣之追襲亞蘭軍曰、往而察之、 | They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.
乃追襲之、至約但、見衣械遍於途、卽亞蘭人疾遁而棄者、使者返告於王、 | And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.
民遂出、掠亞蘭營、於是細麪一細亞、售銀一舍客勒、麰麥二細亞、售銀一舍客勒、如耶和華所言、 | And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the Lord.
王委扶之之軍長監邑門、民於邑門踐之而死、如上帝僕於王來見時所言、 | And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.
蓋上帝僕曾言於王曰、明日此時、在撒瑪利亞邑門、細麪一細亞、售銀一舍客勒、麰麥二細亞、售銀一舍客勒、 | And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:
其時軍長謂上帝僕曰、卽耶和華啟牖於天、豈能有此事乎、曰、爾必目覩、惟不得食、 | And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
斯皆應於其身、民於邑門踐之而死、 | And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.
