1 以色列王約哈斯子約阿施二年、猶大王約阿施子亞瑪謝卽位、 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
2 時、年二十有五、在耶路撒冷爲王、凡二十九年、其母名約耶但、耶路撒冷人也、 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
3 亞瑪謝行耶和華所悅、惟不若厥祖大衞、乃效其父約阿施所爲、 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
4 崇邱未廢、民仍獻祭焚香於其上、 Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
5 國旣堅定、則誅弒其父之臣、 And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
6 而弗殺兇人之子、依摩西律書所載、耶和華命云、勿因子而殺父、勿因父而殺子、各因己罪而死、 But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
7 亞瑪謝於鹽谷、擊以東人一萬、攻西拉取之、易其名曰約帖、至於今日、○ He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
8 亞瑪謝遣使見耶戶孫、約哈斯子、以色列王約阿施曰、來、爾我晤面、 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
9 以色列王約阿施、遣使見猶大王亞瑪謝曰、利巴嫩之蒺藜、遣使謂利巴嫩之香柏曰、以爾女妻我子、有利巴嫩之野獸過之、踐其蒺藜、 And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
10 爾擊以東、心高而誇耀之、安居於家可耳、何爲招禍、以致傾覆、猶大與爾偕亡乎、 Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
11 亞瑪謝弗聽、以色列王約阿施遂上、與猶大王亞瑪謝晤面於猶大之伯示麥、 But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth–shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
12 猶大人敗於以色列人前、遁而歸幕、 And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
13 以色列王約阿施擒亞哈謝孫、約阿施子、猶大王亞瑪謝於伯示麥、遂至耶路撒冷、毀其城垣、自以法蓮門、至城隅之門、凡四百肘、 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth–shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14 取耶和華室與王宮府庫、所有之金銀、及器皿、並取人爲質、而返撒瑪利亞、 And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
15 約阿施其餘事蹟、凡其所行、與其勇力、及與猶大王亞瑪謝戰鬬、俱載於以色列列王紀、 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16 約阿施與列祖偕眠、同以色列諸王葬於撒瑪利亞、子耶羅波安嗣位、○ And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17 以色列王約哈斯子約阿施卒後、猶大王約阿施子亞瑪謝、猶在世十五年、 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
18 亞瑪謝其餘事蹟、俱載於猶大列王紀、 And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19 耶路撒冷有人叛之、遂遁於拉吉、叛黨遣人至拉吉弒之、 Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20 乃以馬負其屍、至耶路撒冷、同列祖葬於大衞城、 And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21 猶大民衆立亞撒利雅、繼父亞瑪謝爲王、時、年十有六歲、 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
22 亞瑪謝與列祖偕眠後、亞撒利雅恢復以拉他、歸於猶大、而重建之、○ He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23 猶大王約阿施子亞瑪謝十五年、以色列王約阿施子耶羅波安卽位、在撒瑪利亞爲王、歷四十一年、 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
24 行耶和華所惡、不離棄尼八子耶羅波安陷以色列人之罪、 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
25 耶羅波安恢復以色列之境、自哈馬道、至亞拉巴海、如以色列之上帝耶和華藉其僕、迦特希弗人亞米太子先知約拿所言、 He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath–hepher.
26 蓋耶和華見以色列人艱苦殊甚、被束者、自由者、消亡殆盡、亦無輔助以色列者、 For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
27 耶和華未言必塗以色列之名於天下、乃藉約阿施子耶羅波安救之、 And the Lord said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28 耶羅波安其餘事蹟、凡其所行、與其勇力、並如何戰爭、如何恢復大馬色、及猶大之哈馬、歸以色列、俱載於以色列列王紀、 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
29 耶羅波安與列祖以色列諸王偕眠、子撒迦利雅嗣位、 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.
