| 1 | 耶戶七年、約阿施卽位、在耶路撒冷爲王、歷四十年、其母名西比亞、別是巴人也、 | In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zibiah of Beer–sheba. |
| 2 | 約阿施在祭司耶何耶大訓誨之日、行耶和華所悅、 | And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the Lord all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him. |
| 3 | 惟崇邱未廢、民仍獻祭焚香於其上、○ | But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places. |
| 4 | 約阿施謂諸祭司曰、凡輸入耶和華室、區別爲聖之物、所值通用之金、或各人所估身價之金、或從心所願、輸於耶和華室之金、 | And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the Lord, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man’s heart to bring into the house of the Lord, |
| 5 | 祭司各自相識之人受之、修葺殿宇破壞之處、 | Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found. |
| 6 | 至約阿施王二十三年、殿宇之破壞、祭司尚未修葺、 | But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house. |
| 7 | 故約阿施王召大祭司耶何耶大、與衆祭司、謂之曰、殿宇破壞、胡不修葺、今而後、勿復受相識者之金、宜出此金、修葺殿宇之破壞、 | Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house. |
| 8 | 諸祭司應命、不復受金於民、亦不修葺殿宇、 | And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house. |
| 9 | 惟祭司耶何耶大取一匱、鑿孔於蓋、置諸壇側、在入耶和華室之右、凡輸耶和華室之金、守門之祭司咸納於其中、 | But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the Lord: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the Lord. |
| 10 | 匱中金多、則王之繕寫與祭司長至、將耶和華室所得之金、核而封之、 | And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the Lord. |
| 11 | 以所權之金、付於督耶和華室之工作者、轉予建造之木工及匠役、 | And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the Lord: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the Lord, |
| 12 | 又予瓦工石工、復購材木、及鑿成之石、以修葺耶和華室之破壞、並爲一切修室之用、 | And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the Lord, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it. |
| 13 | 惟所輸耶和華室之金、不以製耶和華室中之銀杯剪盂角、及諸金銀器皿、 | Howbeit there were not made for the house of the Lord bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the Lord: |
| 14 | 乃以予督工者、修葺耶和華室、 | But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the Lord. |
| 15 | 以金付於督理、轉予工匠、不與核算其數、因其行事誠實也、 | Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully. |
| 16 | 惟補過祭與贖罪祭之金、不入耶和華室、俱歸祭司、○ | The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the Lord: it was the priests’. |
| 17 | 時、亞蘭王哈薛、上攻迦特取之、遂定志上耶路撒冷、 | Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem. |
| 18 | 猶大王約阿施、以其祖父猶大王約沙法、約蘭、亞哈謝、所區別之物、與己所獻爲聖之物、及耶和華室與王宮府庫、所有之金、悉饋亞蘭王哈薛、哈薛乃去耶路撒冷、 | And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and in the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem. |
| 19 | 約阿施其餘事蹟、凡其所行、俱載於猶大列王紀、 | And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? |
| 20 | 約阿施之臣叛、弒之於近悉羅之米羅宮、 | And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla. |
| 21 | 弒王之臣、乃示米押子約撒甲、朔默子約薩拔、王與列祖同葬於大衞城、子亞瑪謝嗣位、 | For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead. |
