| 1 | 所羅門決意爲耶和華之名建室、亦爲己建宮室、 | And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom. |
| 2 | 乃簡負荷者七萬、入山鑿石者八萬、督工者三千六百、 | And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them. |
| 3 | 所羅門遣人謂推羅王希蘭曰、昔爾運香柏於我父大衞、以建宮室而居、今請爾亦如是待我、 | And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me. |
| 4 | 我將爲我上帝耶和華之名建室、區別以歸之、焚芳品之香於其前、恆供陳設之餅、每朝夕、安息日、月朔、及我上帝耶和華之節期、奉獻燔祭、此乃以色列之常例、 | Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel. |
| 5 | 我所欲建之室甚大、蓋我上帝大於諸神、 | And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods. |
| 6 | 然孰能爲之建室哉、天與天上之天、不足容之、我何人斯、而爲之建室乎、第焚香於其前而已、 | But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him? |
| 7 | 今求遣一巧匠、精於金銀銅鐵、及紫絳藍三色之工、並善雕刻者、與我父大衞於猶大及耶路撒冷、所備之巧匠同在、 | Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide. |
| 8 | 又求自利巴嫩、運香柏松木檀木於我、我知爾僕、在利巴嫩善於伐木、我僕可與之偕、 | Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants, |
| 9 | 多備材木、我所將建之室、廣大奇異、 | Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great. |
| 10 | 爾僕伐木、我必予以小麥二萬歌珥、麰麥二萬歌珥、酒二萬罷特、油二萬罷特、 | And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil. |
| 11 | 推羅王希蘭覆書於所羅門曰、耶和華惠愛其民、故立爾爲其王、 | Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the Lord hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them. |
| 12 | 又曰、造天地之耶和華、以色列之上帝、宜頌美焉、賜大衞王智慧之子、賦以穎悟聰明、爲耶和華建室、爲己建宮室、 | Huram said moreover, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the Lord, and an house for his kingdom. |
| 13 | 今我遣一巧匠、有聰明者詣爾、卽我父老希蘭、 | And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father’s, |
| 14 | 乃但支派婦人之子、其父推羅人、精於金銀銅鐵石木、及紫藍絳三色、與細枲之工、又善雕刻、能搆巧思、爲之備所、俾與爾之巧匠、及爾父我主大衞之巧匠同在、 | The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father. |
| 15 | 我主所言之小麥麰麥、與酒及油、可運於僕、 | Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants: |
| 16 | 我儕必伐木於利巴嫩、適爾所用、編之爲桴、浮海以達約帕、爾可運至耶路撒冷、○ | And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem. |
| 17 | 所羅門核居以色列地之旅人、如其父大衞所爲、得十五萬三千六百人、 | And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred. |
| 18 | 使七萬人負荷、八萬人入山鑿石、三千六百人督工、 | And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work. |
