| 1 | 亞比雅與其列祖偕眠、葬於大衞城、子亞撒嗣位、其在位時、國享平康、凡歷十年、 | So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years. |
| 2 | 亞撒行其上帝耶和華所視爲善爲正者、 | And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God: |
| 3 | 除異邦之祭壇與崇邱、毀柱像、斫木偶、 | For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: |
| 4 | 命猶大人尋求其列祖之上帝耶和華、行其法律誡命、 | And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. |
| 5 | 除猶大諸邑之崇邱與日像、其時國享平康、 | Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him. |
| 6 | 於猶大建堅城、其地平靖、數年息戰、蓋耶和華錫以綏安、 | And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest. |
| 7 | 亞撒謂猶大人曰、我儕當建斯邑、周築城垣、建樓、置門與楗、地尚屬我、因我尋求我上帝耶和華、旣尋求之、則賜我四境平康、於是建築順利、 | Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered. |
| 8 | 亞撒之軍、出自猶大執干戈者三十萬、出自便雅憫執盾挽弓者二十八萬、皆勇士也、 | And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour. |
| 9 | 古實人謝拉率軍百萬、車三百乘、出而攻之、至瑪利沙、 | And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah. |
| 10 | 亞撒出迓、列陳於洗法谷、在瑪利沙、 | Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. |
| 11 | 亞撒籲其上帝耶和華曰、耶和華歟、在強者弱者之間、爾外無助者、我上帝耶和華、尚其助我、我惟爾是恃、奉爾之名來禦斯衆、耶和華歟、爾爲我之上帝、勿容人勝爾、 | And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. |
| 12 | 耶和華乃擊古實人、於亞撒及猶大人前、古實人遁、 | So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. |
| 13 | 亞撒與所偕之民衆、追之至基拉耳、古實人隕沒者甚衆、不復成軍、因敗於耶和華及其軍前、猶大人獲其貨財甚多、 | And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the Lord, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil. |
| 14 | 又擊基拉耳四周之邑、以耶和華使之恐懼故也、諸邑多有貨財、猶大人刧掠之、 | And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the Lord came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them. |
| 15 | 又擊羣畜之牢、取羊駝無數、歸耶路撒冷、 | They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem. |
